Hi there,
We have an old Mk3 Transit minbus/camper conversion called Georgy girl. We've had her for just over a year now and have got to know her little "ways".
Over and above the times we have been properly away in her, having a camper is a great way to get away from the drivel that passes as weekend telly...lol..to be honest we have even found ourselves sat on our own drive listening to tunes on a Saturday night. We have also taken advantage of a couple of sites just 1/2 hr or so away from our house as an alternative to "staying in".
Other diversions include messing about with Vespas...occassionally combining the two (getting toooooo old for tents lol).
Planning on heading back up round Scotland in a couple of months for a bit more touring but to honest, with us both working full-time the van is more about getting quick fixes at the weekend.
Hoping to get a bit of inspiration from hanging out here.....so catch you soon
Cheer n beers
Haddie

Welcome to the forum Haddie!
We may be planning a tour of Scotland from the forum, beginning of May. We have been the last couple of years, but not sure of numbers this year.
Have a great time here!

Hi Firefox,
Been going up for the last few years...initially in a camper that someone kindly let us loose in.
Last year we did Isle of Cumbrae, Loch Lomond and the Mull of Galloway. It was actually staying on Cumbrae that made us first think about "how" we had been touring.
Lol...seems the art to staying in Scotland is getting the right side of the midges....so May is always good :-)

Cheers to you all.....found the site really inspiring. Been working hard on our van over the last month.....prop shaft sheared on our last trip away and proved a bit awkward to source a replacement.....began to feel like the legendary J.R. Hartley :-) .....havinga bit of fun with the leisure eelectrics too....spent a couple of evenings and a Saturday sussing out and sorting the wiring on the internal battery (home done job....blue wires connected to brown ones etc...made it really easy to follow the logic Lol). Got a secondary battery in the engine compartment which I've tracked the +ve through to the zig-zag but totally confused by no sign of any -ve wiring back into that circuit ? Main leisure battery only charges on hook-up...nothing running from alternator so hoping to sort this out so we can play out longer :-) :-) :-) :-)

If you go for a split charge relay make sure it's a 100 amp or more. Plenty of kits on ebay. An auto electrician did mine for a hundred quid including all the first fix wiring.
