This was another popular date range. Post in this thread if you want to join this convoy.

Decisions, decisions.... Do I miss an Ian Siegal concert, some paid work vote counting for the European election, taking part in the local Carnival representing Transition Wirksworth and a close friend's 50th, (10th-25th May trip), or my boyfriend's birthday and Robin Hood's Bay folk weekend (31st May -15th June trip)?
31st May -15th June it is then.

Sorry I got the dates wrong when I posted it the first time. It's till June 15 not June 5. Anyone else for this - 9 people voted for these dates originally. If you go up the NorthWest coast, stonedaddy may join you

Given the apparent lack of response on these dates, I was thinking of coming up on the 26th and meeting up with Mark immediately following the earlier trip, rather than leaving it until the 31st. However if others are now interested in the latter part of this trip then perhaps it's still a goer on the original dates.

Tom said the second set of dates may be a possibility for him and Josie as I think he wants to do NW coast too.

Hello all,
So far then, it looks like: Me Rubbertramp Flyby - maybe Stonedaddy (maybe) Robomac (maybe - second week) Goldfish.
Can anyone suggest how best to go about deciding on a route? Anyone have any specific ideas?
It would be great if someone who knows the best places to see/stay could suggest something. I am not really interested in island hopping, except maybe across to Lewis, and it seems that people who are also joining the earlier convoy will already have done that. I'd like to keep close to the coast, but am happy to divert inland if there are good places to see. I don't know the area at all, but have recently bought the Lonely Planet guide so could work someting out from that if necessary, but nothing really beats a personal recommendation.

How it worked last year was that we had a starting/meeting up point and a vague finishing destination (north coast). We then casually meandered towards it covering about 20 to 30 miles a day, sometimes less. Anyone who wanted to wander off to do their own thing did so but that didn't happen much and we spent every evening together. We did get on well. My own preference is to do just that. I have plenty of overnight stopping places, saved from my cycle trip, on or near the coast but overnight stops are so easy to find there anyway. So where do you want to start from and where do you want to end up? I'm easy and will go with the flow.

Sounds a good plan, my 1st long distance out north, probably starts moving north a week before, be great to to a bit. Of cycling too.

Anyone who is a possible for this trip and also going to Ribblehead? Would be good to meet and get a few ideas together, or at least introduce ourselves. I don't know everyone who has said they might come. For anyone who doesn't know me, I will be in a Chausson Welcome 50.

Too early for me yet to know when and where I'm going to be but supposed to be in Scotland for work sometime this month. Likely to know the week before so if you lot would like to make arrangements I will fit in with them.

I'm still up for this I've still got to do the Lochinver to Thurso stretch to complete my coastal route, and would love to return to both Orkney, and Chanonry Point (for the dolphins) None of these need to be on this trip, but they are of interest to me.

Turns out that I can't make these dates after all I'm going to see if I can wangle something for later this month, or it'll end up being Sept, which is when I usually go.

That's a shame- I was just looking at the map this morning, to start planning. It still it looks like there might be five of us, which is fine. Is everyone else (Rubbertramp, Goldfish, Robomac, Stonedaddy) still up for it?
Mark - can you suggest a start point?

No probs... we need to think about checking out the ferry tickets about now if you want to do the Island hopping bit on 1. Last minute additions and drop outs will be fine But, we may need to split the convoy into groups of 4 and 5 depending on how many turn up on the actual day. I haven't checked how many we have on 1 for a while, but it may be around 10. If you want to do convoy 1 Alec, take a look at the table and see which bits you may want to do. Nothing binding but it will help organise it a little.
