Sounds fab! I stayed at the Ullapool site last year and had a BBQ on the edge of the loch, was nice there. Enjoy the rest of your trip. I hope to go back to Scotland next year.

Thanks!
Monday night Oldshoremore Car park next the beach... no overnight parking, oooops, but it was very empty and we were off the next morning. Then Tuesday night at Droman pier car park. Very remote! That day we did the walk to Dandwood Bay - 9 mile round trip. It's a very remote beautiful beach with no vehicle access, you have to walk to it. Wednesday night, finally got to Durness and we were at the beach car park at Balnakeil. We have just moved on to the Kyle of Tongue causeway car park for Thursday night. Picnic area and own private sandy beach by the Loch. Stunning views here too. May do one night near Thurso tomorrow and then head back down Saturday.

Sorry you had to leave Daisy We have had lots of really good laughs, got through more than a few bottles of red wine and had a really good time in spite of the weather not being optimum.

Just woken up in a big bed in a house instead of a little green thing in a car park. Confused!! Had a great time with lovely company. Sad it's over but there's the music meet at the weekend....Thanks to all my travelling companions for their good humour and great cooking! Hope to see you all soon

Did you have a firepit under the hanging rock at Sand bay - great place for it! Also did you look around Monty Hall's Croft?

Did you have a firepit under the hanging rock at Sand bay - great place for it! Also did you look around Monty Hall's Croft? We missed that opportunity, though we did visit it during a dog walk. I did suggest getting the fire pit out a couple of times but everyone thought it was too cold and windy so in the end, we never managed a fire, despite lugging the pit and 8 logs round with us! One of my few regrets from the trip.

Thanks also to Anne for carrying 5 logs 1500 miles... it's the thought that counts, maybe next time!

RT, you have to reduce the picture size which you can do either in an arts package like paint shop pro or as you upload them using a host like image shack.
To finish my side of the tour, spent last night at Thurso on Fri, Went to Dunnet head, most Northerly point on Sat Morning, said goodbye to RT and Kimbowbill, then back down to Pitlochery to spend Sat Night. Said goodbye to Anne and Carol there and wilded near Tebay on the M6 Sunday night, saw WVW and RTP Mon Morn, and back home Monday eve. So it took me 3 days to get back down.
Total miles 1790, diesel £360, mpg about 32.

Sounds like a great trip, I'd love to do something similar next year! Are you planning another one!?!

Yes, we will definitely go next year! But are probably planning some mini convoys in the meantime. Maybe South Pennines. Derbyshire etc or Midlands for weekends or long weekends. You'd be welcome along...
Watch this space!
We decided 4 or 5 vans is a max for convoys/wilding but if there are more people we can maybe split up into groups. One advantage we have here is there wont be massive numbers of people so hopefully we can sort something out for everyone.

Thanks, once I've done a few local outings and weekends in the van and ironed out any teething problems I'll be all ready to go! I look forward to it!
4-5 vans sounds like a sensible number.

Any more than that restricts the choice of places, and also causes more alarm for any NIMBYs who may be on the prowl!

If we have 6 we'd split 3 and 3, 7 split 4 and 3 etc. But no need for the two groups to make themselves strangers. If we did it in the same area, we could maybe meet Sat/Sun Lunchtimes at pubs... we could work something out I'm sure.
