Thought of doing this one: www.yeolderockinn.co.uk/homepage.htmlHave been there before, it's motorhome friendly and also good access for North and South people. May do Friday night in their car park and then mini convoy and wild nearby on Sat night, or just stay in the car park all weekend. Lots of interesting walks and wildlife nearby (The Roaches Hills)

Have been there before with about 12 vans, but if we want to do a convoy and wild camp then we'd need to restrict it to about 5-6 on the wilding bit or separate the groups.
We can decide when we see how many we get.

That's cool I'll try to learn E minor pentatonic notes so I can have a go at the solos over the blues rhythm. I've not done any blues ever before, just classical fingerstyle, so it's all new to me!

I think My Acoustic's going on the Firewood pile!!! Can't get on with it......Action's like a bow & arrow and notes choke when I bend/vibe a string ('Bad workman etc etc!!) Yep, E Pent's all You need.....tho' it ain't maj or min is it?....(stand to be corrected here as My music theory can go on the proverbial swan vesta box!)

Ah well don't chuck it just yet! I saw some really cool vids on You Tube about how to lower the action by shaving the bridge and then measuring it with a coin which I think most people could do themselves. Choking and breaking on the bends - it may just be the fretwork or a poor soundboard or something loose but maybe sort the action first cos if it is high to start with, it may not bend well if it's coming up a fraction when you bend it? I can probably stretch to E and A pentatonics (almost the same notes). I'm no expert but I think you are right that for the blues you do use both minor/major but play mostly the minor pentatonic notes with a few major notes for spice, but yeah that is all a bit advanced for me and I'll maybe just stick to the minor ones until I know the fretboard better as it is a confusing place for a violin player

Can't You bring Yr Violin M8? That would be ace! Was n't seriously gonna burn guitar (..as John said @ Radwell when I feinted throwing it on the fire...'It's not the guitar!') Neck offset will be 1st to try & sort..then some fret dressing. I'm gonna try & fix an old Bass Guitar that's at My Dad's....with Amp/Inverter (or Yr Gennie!) We can show people 3 notes to pluck along!

I can bring violin, but the guitar I find better for jamming around as it is more forgiving.
Still if we can tune up OK I can play random notes on violin in G major which is same thing as E minor and C major which is the same thing as A minor so it may work OK. I play 50% by numbers and 50% by ear so I need to know the numbers to help the ear out to start.

Don't really want too many as then we can't go and wild somewhere else. Would have to stay in the pub car park. So 5 or 6 would be fine. Room for 2 or 3 more

Ok,Ok....I promise I WON'T bring Guitar! (Now We'll have too many!!!) Bring it, or I'll have to bring two! - actually you can play mine if yours is playing you up. But mine is classically strung with nylon and a wide neck - great tone, though high action which may need a fix. It's a Harmony clone from about 1980 when Harmony sold out to Eastern manufacture. Still they transferred the tech well as it plays fine for me. I'm thinking of getting a Taylor Mini GS but not sure if I can afford it. A lot of cash but I need something smaller for the van with good sound and tone.

..I've got nowhere else to put it except the Van! (Please delete the incoming suggestions Vernon!!!)
Anyway I'm pretty consistant regardless of which guitar........I can sound crap on anything!!!

Modesty will get you nowhere!
So, when you play your 12 bar blues rhythm, do you play 4 bars of Em, 2 of A, 2 of Em, 2 of B/B7, 2 of Em ??
or 4 x I, 2 x IV, 2 x I, 2 V(7) 2 x I
Or do you play 4xEm, 2xA, 2xEm, 1xB(7), 1xA, 1xEm, 1xB(7) like it goes round in a circle?

I had to think & count at the same time there!! The latter (Ix4, IVx2, Ix2, V(7) x1, IVx1, Ix1, V(7)x 1) is the Quo-pattern chug a la Radwell Free-Fest!!! The former (eg. 'Strange Brew') usually catches Me out as I always seem to want to go back to V(7) to end!!! That's why Blues form's best for Me......can't really put in a wrong note unless I cock up fret pos.!! Listen to some of Stevie Ray Vaughan's Live stuff...his Bass Player is brilliant 'cos SRV don't always remember to count bars when he let rip; & John Lee Hooker could do a 13-bar blues!!!?
