Have fun folks!....I'm expecting lotsa pics/vids as partial compo for not being able to trek up for either dates!! Glen, I've got a Taylor GS Mini guitar now - first acoustic I've ever had but it's a cut down size 36" for travel and use in the van. You wouldn't believe it is a small size though, it packs a huge sound. So much so I had to replace the G and B strings with high tension nylon. I kept the rest of the strings as standard steel. They were ringing so much it was like a pack of wild horses, too tricky for me to control Hoping to bring to the music meet with my other guitar.

Still here at Shap There's a fierce cold wind and horizontal rain this morning and we were all rocked to sleep last night by a nice gentle wind - luvverly jubberly But - it hasn't SNOWED! Mongoose Soup Kitchen will be parked right outside the Bothy next Friday 13th to rescue cold and hungry campers who brave it up the fells - spicy lentil soup with fresh coriander, yogurt and fresh bread rolls with butter. Everyone's had a good time, despite there being 6 no-shows so only 8 wildcampers made it up here. BanjoBilly and his friend Diana were on real good form and we were nice and warm inside the Bothy. Newbie wildcamper Aliwat (Alison) plays a mean guitar ditto singing voice. There's plenty of beer left for this next weekend (eat your heart out Rob ) and it's quite a tasty brew. Bring torches - it's black as Satan's hole here at night! - and plenty of warm clothes and wet weather gear. Expect the Hound of the Baskervilles to kick off during the night. Not that you'll care once you're tucked inside the warm oasis of the Bothy 5 of us still here having a jamming session in the vans before we head off later this afternoon. Next weekend's meet at the Bothy coincides with the monthly Full Moon Club gig on Monday night (16th) for anyone who fancies staying on; film show upstairs early evening then more music sessions into the night with the Windy Bottom Boys... I wonder if Flyby is a member? Life: unfinished threads in a never-ending tapestry

Sounds great Marie, I hope the weather is OK for next weekend!
What was the most popular tune from Neil's list on his website?

We didn't really get to do any of the tunes, Vern, as Bill and co. kept us so well entertained, but we will this next weekend. Neil is going to print out the words for everyone to join in and sing Life: unfinished threads in a never-ending tapestry

No, A69 to Carlisle then M6 south, gaz. Nice straight, easy roads. Longer way round, but a damn sight quicker! Came across the tops on the way back from the Bothy in September. It was a right up and down twisty slog in our old rust bucket, further hampered by filthy wet, windy, foggy weather. Yuk! Made it heavier on the fuel, too, so A69/M6 might be longer, but probably no worse on the fuel and way easier to drive Life: unfinished threads in a never-ending tapestry

As originally written by Cohen:
Hallelujah In the Key of C - no sharps or flats, hurray!
Red is melody line for violin, keyboard, guitar etc etc. Violin starts first finger on D string (E above middle C) and goes up from there except last line when it goes down to 3rd finger on G string (Middle C to finish) (F.E.D.(C...C) ) Purple is the chord and bold letters are the words when the chord changes.
E....(G...G...G...G)...(A...A...A)
C ..............................Am I heard there was a secret chord
E....(G...G...G...G)...(A....A....A) C .....................................Am That David played and it pleased the lord
G... (A..A..A..A)...(A...G...G)... E... (G...G) F ..............................G......................C..............(G) But you don't really care for music, do you?
E....(G....G....G....G)..... (A...A)...B C......................................F.................G Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
G...(C...C...C...C...C...C...C)...D Am................................F The minor fall and the major lift
C...(D...D...D...D)...(E...E...E)...(D...D)...C G ................Em....................Am The baffled king composing hallelujah
Chorus:
E.G.(A.A)..A.G.(E.E)..E. G.(A.A)..E.(G..G).F.E.D.(C...C) F................Am........... F.................C.............G......C Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelu-u-u-u-jah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to a kitchen chair She broke your throne, and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Baby I have been here before I know this room, I've walked this floor I used to live alone before I knew you. I've seen your flag on the marble arch Love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah
(PS Can't play it in G...that was Jeff Buckley, Capo at the 7th, frets are too close and fingers too big to play up there properly!)

Have been hiding out in some secret spots in deepest darkest Borrowdale but I need to go home soon for a bath, even the dogs are turning up their noses at the smell of me Am going to try to come on Sat night but my brain is screwed at the moment and I might bottle out. If I do make it, don't make a fuss, just pretend I've been there all the time, otherwise it might be too much and I'll just run away. Thanks for the moral support, it's appreciated xx
