I fancy organising a music meet somewhere Up North. Don't know where, don't know when. Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, County Durham, Tyne and Wear or Northumberland. Just testing the water first to see if there'd be anyone interested in coming to something like this?...

Yes I'd do it, subject to dates etc. Would suggest Yorkshire to make it a bit more accessible to more people.

I could be interested - don't know what my plans are, though. Changed twice in the last two weeks!
How is Yorkshire "more accessible" than the others?

I can't play or sing but I CAN do video(!!) and it sounds like fun - although 'up north' would probably be too far for me.

I know a nice spot in a fairly quiet valley near Keswick, off the beaten track so not as busy as central lake District. Should be able to park a fair number of vans.
Is that too far for people?

Same for me. It's about a 4 hour trip, but I'd go if it was a long weekend and could get in some good walking too.

It would be +5-6 hours so too far for me.

How is Yorkshire "more accessible" than the others? Yorkshire more accessible because it would still be a Northern meet but for people from South and Midlands who wanted to attend, it is easier to get to than say Northumberland.

Ah, the great North South issue raises its head , I take it Northern means Northern England here? .. By the way, where are the WCLs on this forum?

Yorks and are Lancs pretty much equivalent, but S Yorks would be more central than Lancs I guess. No huge deal for me I'd go to the Lakes if it was 4 days

Shustoke would be good for a music meet, dog walkers during the day but quiet at night, enough hard standing for up to about 50 vans! Midlands rather than Northern but one to keep in mind.

Don't want to appear negative not sure about Shustoke reservoir as a possible venue... not sure if it might cause issues as it is a public carparking area for the reservoir and does get busy during the day, might not be popular move for us to take it over for a whole weekend. Also would be nice to be somewhere where we can hang out freely all weekend, and have a fire at night

Shustoke would be a good place if there were not too many of us, but agree we would not want to overwhelm it.
What we really need is a central Stonehenge type venue within 20 miles of say Stafford where we can gather 20 vans and have a camp fire without too much danger of interruption or upsetting anyone.
Answers on a postcard... or maybe that community woodland...
