What do you think? I can make it any size, change colours, add text, give it dragon wings. I can probably make it less cartoony and more pseudo real. I have been playing with Inkscape...just starting to get the hang of it.

Very nice. We could integrate into the forum posting icons colour coding it for the diff skins and use it as logo too. My original was a bit rough. I can do better but didn't have time. One of them needs to say new on it or otherwise differentiate between a forum with new posts or no new posts. It could even be the default avatar (black and white van is at the moment)

I've used it on the board logo and "new" logo (couldn't get the star to work cos the height/aspect resize issue)
If you check in the forum avatars section it is also now available in 9 different colours for use as an avatar

Where does the board logo appear, then? I can redo the star new - what size do you need it to be?

It used to be in the top LH corner but it doesn't fit here with this layout so the only ones we have are the icons on the board for which I used it.
And the avatars too - 9 different colours on the avatar page in profile settings.

I do like the new campervan Polly but having said that, I also love the sleeker look of the forum now that the headings don't take up the whole page. It would be a shame to see everything pushed back down again because the new layout is so much clearer and more sleek. How about a tiny little white outline van on the blue band beside the forum title... similar to the avatar style? I know it's been a bit of a headache to do but all your efforts with the upgrade have been well worth it Firefox... the new look is so much clearer and page loading is much faster. Must dash... off to Oxford!

Yes I had to respond to a couple of people who want a cleaner faster loading interface with just then main links. If you hit the link Forum Home Top(Link Station) it gives you a clean compact window with the main board links, recent posts etc without any graphics or scrolling and links off to other common pages on the net too.
But I was thinking we maybe able to use the Polly's van again in the background image behind the forum, very faint as a tessellation in pastel blue/purple colours? That would not impact the main navigation or forum page aspects.

The original image is a scaleable vector graphic, which just means that it can be any size you like without pixellation/tessellation.
I admit, I don't like the tessellation effect - it just feels clumsy and awkward.
Are you thinking of a tiled background, Vernon, or a single stretched image? I can put it on, say, a baby blue background and wash all the colour out which, if it was tiled would come over much as you describe

I was thinking of tiled because if it is stretched then most of it will disappear behind the board. But tiled, those who have space at the screen edges will be able to see the whole graphic. I think forum is 900 to 950px wide at the moment. That may even be too wide for some mobile devices but I don't want to go less than 800 though. 950 works OK on my 10 inch notebook which is good test. But people with bigger screen res will be able to see quite a bit at the edges. The forum background color to match everything else is DDDDFF I think.

So if I go for a width of 800px, shrink the star a bit, background DDDDFF. Do you want me to desaturate/lighten it or do you want to do that yourself, so you can get it right for how you want?

You didn't mean you wanted an image 800 x 800 px did you?
