What do you think of the new board. Proboards Version 5? To be honest I am missing the old one a bit, it was so simple and clear. But this one does have so many more features. Like the shoutbox, and avatars, and all kinds of stuff like attaching 3 pics instead of 1. We can even do stuff like members photo galleries with a few hacks, all hosted on an entirely separate board, so you could store a load of photos. We could probably have as many features as the fully featured boards like VBulletin that Wild Camping uses - even more if we wanted there's a huge amount of stuff we could add. Example of 3 attachments per post as below - up to 1MB total (Leveller's Gig last July at Anderton - it was buzzing !!)

I admit to not liking the old board muchly.
I am still getting used to the new one and you have put a lot of work into setting it up, I can tell. There are still things that I would change if I was Slartibartfast. For example, centre aligned paragraphs have always looked odd to me...my eyes get to the last line of the paragraph and are expecting to go to the start of the line, but it is often half way across the page. For me, it is a bit less functional than traditional left aligned. I can live with it though.
The thing is, each of us would arrange things in slightly different ways to suit our preferred ways of working. You won't please everyone. If we all start suggesting things to add or take down, you are going to start feeling negative because you haven't pleased everyone and we are going to feel bad about pushing our preferences. :/

I know what you mean with the centre tag, but it's the quickest way in basic HTML for me to get something that looks half acceptable and works across a load of platforms. There's a load of stuff with style sheets and CSS but it would take me ages to get into it. Also when you start justifying it is not as flexible to adding new stuff like new links or with different browsers/screen sizes as sometimes it wraps when you don't want it, and looks really weird.

Just wondered if there are any members here with CSS and style sheet type skills?
There are several ways to make skins. You can mess around with raw HTML in the headers or there are different levels of editor. It gets quite complicated.

the headers take up too much room so that everyone has to scroll down to see the page content. Quick link should be in a drop down box and dump the picture it takes up too much space. one could then see the bulk of the page without scrolling down

I think my skills are somewhat similar to your's, Vernon. I struggle with it because I only ever try to do these things about once every 5 years and I have forgotten it all by the time the next one comes round
