I have a Euramobil 810 tupperware thingy. The table supplied is the island type sitting on top of single post mounted in the floor. The table top is big, ridiculously heavy, gets in the way of walking through, but there no where to store it inside, either and it is just plain vicious when approached (I have scars to prove it). So I leave it at home.
So I am looking for other solutions (the rickety picnic isn't much fun either). I have seen people mention swing arm tables, but I can't find anything that really gives me a picture of what it is, but it sort of sounds like it might be what want, if that makes sense.
I want find out how it is mounted, how it stows, how sturdy it is for say, eating off. I have seen a couple of places selling them but I can't work out how it all comes together.
Does anyone have "Motorhome Tables for Dummies?"

easy enough to make a smaller lighter top for the leg you have, they're always a bit wobbly unless you spend about £200 for a marine leg.the swing out legs are ok but need a good wall mounting in the right place, the most secure tables are attached to a wall mounting at one end and have a single leg at the other end.the leg folds or detaches, and the table can be lifted off its bracket and being flat can usually be secured in the loo

heres cak tanks, the swivel leg is on page 113 and is £65.73.i'm not sure but i think the top plate swivels in 2 directions to fold the top flat against the wall

I don't have available wall space to mount one end of a table with a single leg.
For some reason, I didn't think about a boating solution...will have to spend some time looking at it...not spending £200 pounds on it, though!
A fold up table might work...if the legs were sturdy enough...didn't think about storing in the loo, either. Not much thinking going on here, is there?
Sooo...thanks for the tips. Maybe a swing out leg table is not right for me. I need to do some more thinking. Now leaning towards a table with fold away legs, if I can create storage in the loo....
Thanks again.

just point out that the folding legs like cak tanks are steel and quite heavy and awkward to operate in a van.these tables are usually stored on the wall by having a rebated bit of wood at the base of the wall the table slots into and a sprung turnbuckle to hold the other end, very simple

What is the table top you already have made of PollY? Could you cut it down with a jigsaw to a more manageable size and refinish the edges ?

ours is a oblong of ply, sits on metal post when in use, made some brackets in toilet and slots in there when not in use, also made a small round "cafe style" thats sits on the post, handy for drinks ets, that one hides in the wardrobe along with the post.

I've actually got 4 different table sizes in my van.
1. Bed base table flap up 600x1200 2. Bed base table flap down 600x900
3. Bar table with extender top on 600x750 4. Bar table with extender top off 550 diameter
The normal one is number 3 unless I want more table space or bring the front bed into play or a smaller table for a little more room in the lounge.

I am trying to avoid reworking it...partly because if/when I sell the van on, I want to sell it with bits included and partly because I am not good with these things. I think a jig saw would have its work cut out, so to speak.

I think I probably need to see a few examples of what could be done...and decide what would work best.
Maybe I need to get back on the road and look at some of the things everyone is using. I don't find that the typical motorhome dealer is that helpful

Maybe get a piece of furniture board the same size and cut that down with a jigsaw. Then put similar fittings on to your main table. If you are not confident with cutting and shaping the wood then make a cardboard cut out for the size you want and ask a local carpenter or DIY handy friend to cut and round off a piece for you. Maybe they can also add the fittings so the new table will mount right A decent table cloth covers a multitude of carpentry sins! I use red and purple bath towels. OK that's me - I am too Gothic, I know, but you can use all manner of colours and they are great for spills too Another tip - use a free standing bar table with or without an extender top. I bought mine in Argos for about £35. It has a chrome circular base and pneumatic strut. It rotates and you can adjust the height on the strut. Unextended table top is about 550mm diameter (just less than 2 foot)

According to the specs, it stands about 3' 6"...how low does it go?

It's in the spec, it goes from 680mm unextended to 925mm extended. That's 2ft 3" to 3ft 1" And it does rotate too so can be used as a snacks/drinks lazy susan.
One of the best buys I ever made. With my extender top it's super versatile going to about 600x750 rounded corner rectangle. The extender top slides and rotates on the top below and of course you have the height adjustment on the gas strut.
I think I paid about £30-35 for mine on a deal but if you are not worried about colour I notice they are doing a deal on the silver one for £24 at the moment.
Great with table cloth or without and with a power screwdriver it dismantles to store flatpack in less than a minute.
