It's all too late this information I've just brought one, I didn't want to stick one on the roof where it would get very dirty due to the trees around where I live so have just got a 60w folding portable which sits nicely on the dash as long as I'm pointing south, only been in a day and only in bright sun for a short time due to the trees again and brought the battery up from 11 to 12 volts.
I don't use a lot of power and with a mains charge the battery has lasted me 12 days before with just a 4w panel to top up so I am hoping this extra charge will enable me to run the electrics with the newly installed thermostatic vent fan for the same or more time, the Farmer Phils outing will be the real testing ground.

Mine gets dirty due to the trees in the front garden, but I find the rain washes it off so not a big problem.

Is it just me or is anyone else paranoid that the solar panel, Heki skylight and TV aerial will get damaged by trees in country lanes?

Skylights and panels especially are quite tough. I have broken my aerial on trees once but it's a quick screw in replacement and mine was free thanks to stonedaddy

The stick down ones are OK and developing all the time. They are probably the future along with stuff like solar glass and solar film.

great thanks will order kit 159.99 Mike if your going to buy a controller buy this one link it's 20A so you can add another panel later if needed, there are a lot of MPPT controllers on the market which are not what they claim. I'm pleased with that one.
