Took van in for mot today sat waiting in the cold and rain fingers crossed hopeful that it was not going to be a big bill. What was all the fuss about she passed happy days but not for long found out she has a chuffing injector. Booking her in as soon as pos fingers crossed again that they can get it out else it could be an arm and a leg worth. Motors where would we be with out them.

Sorry Sue, what's a chuffing injector? Had me wandering that but I think she is talking on the lines of bloody injector problem. They sure not a cheap little item but if you can take it out yourselves and take it to be reconditioned it will save a few bob. .... Tom ....

Sorry Sue, what's a chuffing injector? Hope you are ready for this. It is the name given to the sound a release of combustion gas makes around the injector because a small copper washer is knackered. A build up of black stuff appears around the injector this is known as "black death" I hope not. I've got her booked in for Monday at a Mercedes specialist. All will be well

I was told it is a common problem with the Merc CDi's if you get them early enough the results are better. So here's hoping.

Hope you've learned something there, Tom! Yes Carol I have learnt something there. I did answer Sue's last post but it seems to have vanished or perhaps I forgot to press create post when I had done it. A few years ago I had a job working as a plant fitter mending dumpers and things. I know the little washers she is talking about and sometimes they would deteriorate over time. Sometimes the injector would blow and we called it a blowing injector. I must say I have never heard of a chuffing injector before so you are very right I have learnt something. Has they say you are never to old to learn. .... Tom ....

Van update. Good news they cleaned out the rocker cover checked injector which is ok replaced the washer and injector pin fetched her back at tea time £100 result, know it's not cheap but at least a new injector is not needed. Happy Days I'm sure Carol could have done it cheaper Look forward to the next meet.
