Was out christmas shopping today to pick up a prezzie for a friend, never been to this shop before sells scented candles and stuff anyway while in the queue the women in front turned around and in a whirl of excitement proceeded to tell me all about this fantastic air freshener that they sold. In her hands she had 4 cans of the stuff it is expensive she said but you only need one squirt of it and giving her husband instructions on how only one spray is needed. I said to her perhaps you should tell him how much it cost's then he would probably only use half a spray she stood there for a minute then said , wait for it......her friend was in the states and coming to visit over christmas she was bringing £60 worth of the air freshener for her, apparently it is hard to come by sells out quick. Am I missing something is there something wrong with me do I need to go and get some what is it all about

I like scented candles - but a lot of people I know have those air freshners that are battery operated and you set how often you want it to squirt freshner into the room - not bought one myself - they are expensive and you have to keep buying refills - I use the jelly ones in the bathroom but that's all - so I don't understand it either

What's wrong with joss sticks?! Or just making some coffee or bread, much nicer to have a "real" smell. That's one me the best things about Christmas, one of my favourite smells is the smell of a real Christmas tree. I like my gadgets but I wouldn't bother with an air freshener gadget. Sooner or later someone is going to invent a mobile phone / tablet with built in smell producing ability that could be interesting...

I would stick with joss sticks or scented candles for the moment. These American "trends" have a habit of being (a) Full of marketing hype (spread using social media in an underhand way) and (b) Very expensive. It may be a big breakthrough but we can afford to wait and see. Also some of these new things are full of nasty chemicals such as formaldehyde, carcinogens, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Joss sticks or candles have some of these too, but have been tested over a long period and we are more confident in what we are dealing with and in what concentrations.

But only once a year bless.
