The two young girls have just been round with there parents with s big bunch of flowers and begging for them and their dog to be forgiven and still very upset by the tragic incident, I really feel for them as I would not have liked to have witnessed what happened, Bill and I have told them not to beat themselves up over it as it was just a tragic incident.

So sorry to hear about your cat, Annie I had cats - quite a few of them, for 25 years. They all lived to long ages apart from the ones that got killed on the road. My oldest was 20, so your 24 year old was a real achievement I know how hard it is when you lose one, so special wishes from me tonight xx

Hugs xx
I've had to harden my heart having Miss Tibby on the road with me and accept that the risk of something happening to her is much higher, especially because she has grown up with dogs and has become much more sociable since coming in the van. But she is a free spirit and needs to be able to roam. She is 8 so is still fit and active and so far hasbeen able to look after herself by getting on the van roof where she is safe. But very different for an elderly cat.
We had 3 cats when I was a teenager and Miss Tibby is my own 4th cat, not one of them survived beyond 11, mainly killed by cars, but each one was very upsetting. After 24 years, the bond must be so strong and so very devastating for you.
I admire the way you are handling this, I don't think I could be so forgiving. But hopefully the incident will be a life lesson for the youngsters and their families.
Hugs again xx

Very sorry to read this news. It sounds as though it was probably a quick ending but still not how a 24yo cat should spend their last moments. I am impressed with how the girls responded - far too many today simply don't care but they and their parents appear to have shown compassion and I'm sure this accident will remain with them too for a long time.
I think you're handling it well under the circumstance although feeling bitter helps nobody. I hope you'll take comfort in knowing your cat had 24 long, happy, healthy years with you.

How awful. I feel for you Annie, 24 years is a long time to know a pet and lose them but of course it would be a terrible way to go at any age; hopefully it was quick.
Full marks to the family concerned for owning up and to you & Bill for handling it well.
