Are they any good? Are they much better than whirlybirds?

They work when sun is shining - which is when most likely to need cooling. Maybe good for small rooms like toilet. Constant ventilation.
But for the main spaces in the van, I'd prefer to have ventilation when I need it. Cooking smells etc. In shade or no wind but hot and still stuffy in van. That's why I prefer forced ventilation on powered fan. Eg Fiamma Turbo vent. It's a huge fan, works suck in or blow out on reverse switch, massive air flow in all weather conditions at the flick of switch.

I had one in my Kangoo panel van used for camping. The heat used to build up in this and the fan was always whirring away almost silently and it definitely extracted some warm air. A skylight would be more effective for ventilation but where this isn't practical then the solar fans are useful and we'll be using them again in an outdoor shed we're building.

Thank you both!
At this time of year condensation is my main problem. Heating helps.
