Our pet cat Tinker didn't come home last night which is very unusual, so we went looking for her this morning. After about an hour of searching and knocking on doors a lady down the road said she was really sorry but she'd been hit by a car outside her house last night. Apparently, two young lads picked Tinker up, knocked on the lady's door and explained how some boy racer in a lowered Fiesta with blacked out windows had hit Tinker and almost hit them at the same time, then sped off. This happened in a one way road which is used as a short cut onto the small estate where we live, which leads me to believe it's someone who either lives here or visits often, because very few others know about the road. I'll find out who is responsible and once I do he won't be driving his pride and joy for a while, not with four slashed tyres and a broken windscreen at least. Before anyone starts lecturing me on the rights and wrongs by the way, let me just say don't bother. If it was just an accident I could accept it, but in these circumstances no-one could rightly call it just an accident. This gobshite has left my wife bereft and devastated, anyone who's met us knows how much Tinker meant to us both, but especially to Brenda. So that's the end of our beautiful Tinker, R.I.P. sweetheart

Dave, I'm so sorry. I know Brenda will be totally distraught I lost two of my cats on the roads in the 1990's so I know what it is like. That was one of the benefits for me having indoor cats after that, and one reason why I had to go that way, as the roads round my place are very busy. RIP Tinker xx

I've not yet had a cat that's died of old age (Miss Tibby is number 4), 2 were killed on roads and one just disappeared which was worse as it was about 2 months before I could really accept he was gone. I don't know how Miss Tibby has survived this long, especially as a wild camping cat, but I couldn't keep her indoors even if I tried and she loves the van now and so I have to accept the risks of that and that she may get run over or lost or stolen. But she is a happy cat as was Tinks. I'm very glad you found her and know what happened, makes it a little easier to move on eventually.
As said on WC, am gutted for you both and feel your devastation, pain and anger.
Massive hugs xxx

So sorry to read of your loss at the wheels of a local lout. I feel your pain.
It sounds as though it was probably quick with minimal suffering or in the arms of the two lads who picked her up. At least they cared and showed her some compassion in her final moments.
RIP Tinker.

Gosh sorry to hear such bad news Dave. I know Brenda will be beside herself with grief. The meets will miss the presence of Tinker has she is as much a regular as anyone else. Give my love to Brenda and condolences to you both.
