I don't know if anyone has seen one of these viral videos suggesting building solar panels into roads but they seem to everywhere at the moment! www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlTA3rnpgzUAs a civil/structural engineer, the more I look at this, the more I think it is a bad idea. There are so many unanswered Qs - durability, vandalism, cost per m 2, skid resistance, ability to lay curves and cambers, load ability, impact resistance, power transmission - the list goes on... None of these Qs are even remotely answered on the website. All we get is "it will look like freakin Tron... solar freakin roadways" etc. The thrust is give us your money and we'll check it out (maybe)...it's looking like a large scale scam to me at the moment.

Never seen this before but I wouldn't even give it 5 seconds consideration.
We saw a brand new narrow boat a few weeks ago with panels that were actually part of the roof, curves n all. My first though was 'where are you going to put you mop, pole, flower pots etc. etc?'.

Some of the little darlings throw stones at ordinary narrowboats; that must be like waving a red flag at them!

My first though was 'where are you going to put you mop, pole, flower pots etc. etc?'. Apparently a few people have given it more than some thought and they have raised $1.5 million in "funding". The US highways authorities have been looking at it since 2006 and so far have not even done a pilot scheme. Solar panels on roofs, great idea. As highway surfacing, no chance!
