I'm willing to go with the flow. The Bank would be good, but anywhere in my green circle would be fine for me and I will try to make it subject to date etc.

I could try ringing the bank at chapel st leonards when i get a rough idea of how many are interested. I was thinking this maybe better as at least its got hard standing. What dates would people prefer to do?? Let me know your thoughts and ill see what i can arrange.

Arranged 2 wildcamping meets with Kimbobill last couple of years at Miner's Standard. Not a bad venue, but landlords can be a wee bit strange at times Great for a base and buses run fairly regularly from Winster into Bakewell, a lovely little town, which makes for a good day out, and plenty of walking generally round about. It's weird, but it's hard to find a decent venue for a wildcamping meet in Derbyshire! I lived there for over 20 years, so got to know it pretty well. The Miner's Standard was the best of the bunch when we organised the last 2 meets there.

They were both good meets,i agree with the location is great, the Bakewell day out was really good, it wouldn't be the same without John in his camo gear, lol, lol, soooooo funny. well i have left loads of messages for the pub at Scrooby doncaster, had no reply, spoke to Reece who said he would get back to me and he hasn't so gunna count that one of my list. i will come along Sue if the dates are ok, i am quite busy tho with moons meets, i have a meet on the 16th May with another forum then off to Scotland for 3 weeks.

Just checked out the bank... www.happydaysleisure.com/bank-farm.html says theyre closed for winter and don't open til Saturday march 15th. Their number isn't operating either..so maybe best to look at one of the peak district sites?
As a date of the 8/9th of march has been mentioned..i,m ok for that weekend if it suits you and a few others?

Im happy to do Derbyshire too..so either the Miners Standard or Duke William would be good...The only thing with miners standard is its sloping and if the ground is sodden are we likely to get stuck??..lol Doncaster looks good too Kimbo, is that them from the Brown Cow?? Not sure whats in the area for people to do though. 7 - 9th March would be ok for me too

Looks like only 3 definates and two maybes for 7/8/9 March. Is it a bit short notice for people? Perhaps people going to Ribblehead are thinking they are too close together, especially for a small meet if it is quite a distance. It doesn't address the need to get away soon, but maybe it would be better to take some time to research a really good venue and give some notice to attract a few more people? I like small meets but you need enough people to make a weekend of it. Views anyone? I want to find out how /if you can get permission to use Cromford meadows - would be a great spot.Marie, you'll know it.

I suppose it depends on how desperate Sue is! Ok..lol Im not that desperate I can wait for Ribblehead...Maybe this wasnt such a good idea what with Morgans meet, Ribblehead, and then Norfolk, and all the other meets Its hard for people to afford to do them all. so I guess ill just have to wait.....

You can always put a thread up and suggest dates. If you get some takers then it's on... some people tend to put stuff up many months in advance - don't let them dominate you - not everyone will be able to get to those meets

Most of ours are short notice and some of the best meets are when it is only a few vans as food is easy also more opportunity to talk and socialise so go for it you will have fun I am sure

Like the idea of a spontaneous mini meet, and think if we,d of let it run,we would have got half a dozen vans or more in 10 days.
Ps..got a good torch now...so wont feel left out next time!!

I'd love to go somewhere, but having resigned myself not to go to Severn Bore meet, I've promised myself to clear up the front of my house and get a load of stuff in the skip. But there may be a few others hopefully. It is a shame Greywell is out of action at the moment, but come the dryer weather, hopefully the field will improve

I'm going to the Whitwell site, that the Norfolk meet is arranged at, this weekend I realise that there are no drinkers on this forum, but there is a mini beer festival being held there

Brilliant base for the Derwent Valley, Matlock Bath, Matlock etc etc. Can't for the life of me remember who the meadows belong to though! Someone at the County Council will know I bet They have massive hot air balloon meets on the meadows around September time and I remember going to a car boot once many moons ago, and I think they have steam rallies there etc. etc.

I emailed the Rugby Club, who you book Cromford meadows through. Chap phoned me back and I am going down on Sunday to meet him and look at what they can do for us. Initial chat sound promising - seems we could have exclusive use of the site and club house if we book outside of Rugby season (which, helpfully, he said was May-August - I wouldn't have a clue). As you say. Marie, it's great location with loads to do right on the doorstep. A weekend wouldn't be enough if you'd not been here before.
I have been here 11 years, but haven't seen any hot air ballon dos - they tend to go from the Hurt Arms in Ambergate, and no car boot either (one happens in Tansley- could be that it moved). The Steam Rally also moved a few years ago(to Darley Dale , I think), although it is still called the Cromford Steam rally. I think that was because one year the ground was too soft to talke the traction engines and once they'd moved they didn't come back. Shame, but there you go. Last year they had a music festival there, though, albeit a small one. So watch this space - or rather, this forum, as I'll start a new thread if I decide to go ahead with a meet here.
