I think so long as it complies with construction and use regulations, it should be OK.
What worried me is if you cut most the body off a monocoque car then you need to strengthen the chassis but the jeep thing you show has it's own chassis and separate body so would be good as you say.

Apparently they drove like a brick. 10-15 mph off top speed, dodgy cornering, and struggled up hills.
But you could get there if you were prepared to take it easy.
I think a more modern car with a decent engine, say 120 BHP, would make a better bet, if not the same cult value!

That'd only work on a pick-up tho' would n't it?.. It'll never happen re. the Troop tho'...I could n't bring Myself to have the body sawn off after the Front seats....this is a 'Future Classic' Doncha know!!! (If I'd known They were gonna go like Rocking Horse Shit I'd have kept one of the previous 2 I've had!!!) ......£14,495.....That's only £14,095 more than I spend on vehicles!!!!
