I think you would be OK with that on most forums. I don't think it contravenes Proboards guidelines for example. They don't say anything about profanity, but I think it is in "context" anyway. They are more keen on restricting items of a sexual nature eg "nothing obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy or pornographic" but they have a catch all "is generally offensive or in bad taste, as determined by ProBoards". If MTM asked us to remove it, which I don't think he would, then we likely would. The same as for any member who feels unhappy about something, you can always enquire, so that just about sums it up

I just thought it was rather apt for the millions of people who go on "yo-yo" diets... Hope it didn't offend anyone!

some site go over the top with there committee powers and start banning people for smallest of things I've heard some of the mods on say Motorhome Facts can be somewhat heavy handed, but only hearsay. I've never joined or observed anything, as most of those sites keep on asking you to pay up £15 or something for just surfing... the payment for motorhome forums is astounding when most web forums are free. I think it is a cynical exploitation of the silver surfers often high disposable income and also an exploitation of lack of familiarity with internet norms among certain groups. As for moderation here, it is mainly sticking to Proboards Terms which is not as easy as it seems, as many US based forum hosts are somewhat more puritanical than British ones, due mainly to cultural factors.

I had a disagreement with a mod on another forum, not an argument, but my opinion wasn't his. He deleted the thread saying that my argument was flawed and not in the spirit of the forum. Not a motorhome forum by the way! But I was not impressed, give some of these people a little power and they become tin gods. I rarely post on there now and it is back to a handful of posts a day, all from 2 or 3 people.

The way I see it is that people come on forums to relax, they have enough troubles at work, college, or with the family and don't want to be told what to do online. The worst dilemma is when someone deliberately comes on to wind other people up and then, it's always difficult to balance at some point their freedom of speech, against all the people they are upsetting.
