I have been to this festival a few times, there is free camping down by the river or camping on the field for about £20 for 3 nights. There are 3 pubs which have sessions going on all weekend. It is just over the border in Scotland and it's on the first weekend in July. So it will be Friday 3rd till Sunday 6th. The village also holds its own Riding of the Marches, a border tradition where usually locals ride on horseback around the parish boundaries, but instead of horses they ride bikes and have to perform rituals such as the kissing of the sod at the golf course, the blessing of the kipper and the fadge and about 10 other tasks as well as drinking quite a lot of alcohol. After the boundaries have been checked and rituals performed its back to the sports field for their own version of the highland games. With activities such as the 5 legged race and other feats of sporting prowess. The day ends with the march to the square behind the local pipe band headed by a local lad twirling the brush, for the closing speeches. It's a brilliant weekend and I think it would give all you people south of Penrith, a better understanding of the traditions of our neighbours over the border.

I didn't Terry, and it would have been right up my street! I've just put my name down for another meet today for that weekend at Brandon, and it was only posted today! I'll watch what happens with Brandon, and if it doesn't happen I'll have a look.

I wasn't sure what dates you had planned for Hebs trip, thought if you knew, you could factor in, if you wished?
Cheers.......

Lucky you, a little thing called work gets in my way, plus a old house requiring serious TLC this year, weather permitting, made a start today, though. 1k lighter for materials

I took it at 50 (at a reduced rate) as I figured I might not live to see it otherwise, you never know what's round the corner. I'm gonna have to cut my cloth though, some of those trips will be in the little Citroen Dispatch I reckon. And I want to do a fair bit of wild tent camping this year too.
