Eeh, BIG COUNTRY playing at the festival! Now I know why Onion's coming - proper Scottish band. Unfortunately they won't include their original singer who passed away a few years ago - sad story - but should still be rattling off many old favourites. In a big country dreams stay with you like a lover's voice in the mountain side....

Decisions, decisions... Corbridge fest or FMC or somewhere by the sea in Cloud cuckoo land?
I'm veering towards the latter of the 3 options at present, am needing peace and solitude rather than noisy company at the moment.
If anyone is desperate for a ticket for Corbridge, shout out as it would be a shame for it to go to waste and it'll help me make a decision... Well, at least it'll reduce the number of options.

Corbridge is a nice wee place, Jess. Plenty of places round and about to escape to and park up for peace and quiet The Roman Wall is just up the hill (sort of!) and the River Tyne flows right next to the festival site if you and the dogs want a watery wander. I'm bringing a dog cage and muzzle for Onion if you need a bit of peace

Really, really deflated to be back home now Thoroughly spoiled without a break all weekend! Onion and Outtolunch surpassed themselves feeding and watering us morning, noon and night. Barbeques, pizza, fresh strawberries with meringues and cream, fancy cakes, chocolates, luxury nibbles from the Freeloading Perv, Full English Breakfasts, tea and coffee on demand, champagne, Pimms - you name it, we got it Bit of a brief scare, though, when the Onion Babes nearly lost him to a brass-necked Monkey Hanger! We managed to get him back after we spanked the naughty monkey. Bad monkey!

Delayed response but Corbridge fest was good - a nice spot, good facilities although not enough rubbish bins in the main arena so rubbish everywhere trampled underfoot, lots of stalls aimed at kids, lots of space for kids to play, woods and river close by so good for dogs, good weather until about 7pm but it was drizzly rain rather than lashing rain so it was ok and didn't spoil the evening. Big Country headlined and were actually better than I expected, lots of banter between band and audience, good to hear some tunes from my teenage years, good support from the audience despite the rain.
The only downside was that everything stopped dead about 11pm when Big Country finished - all the bars closed without any warning. I suspect it was probably due to licensing regs but it would have been good if they had warned us beforehand.
But we were ok as we just had our own party back at our encampment for the 2nd night running, 5 vans parked in a circle so very private ;-)
But we did invite a visitor in to our commune, John and his son from a neighbouring MH plus dog called Stitch, and gave him a Fuckem UK card (am loving the new name, courtesy of Charlie I believe). He already knew about Wild Camping and had used our Brimham Rocks spot which he had learned of through that forum. He had only had his new rig for 10 days, but had previously had a converted transit. If you're reading this John, welcome to the forum, I'm the late arrival on the Friday night with the dogs and cat.
I chatted to a couple of of the staff about a craft stall next year and they said that after this year's success, they are hoping to extend it next year to have more ents going on on the Friday and if possible to continue with some ents on the Sunday. We were nicely "reminded" about noon on Sunday that it was time for us to go, we were almost the last and left about 1.30, so again it was a shame that they perhaps couldn't even offer parking for the day so people could have a stroll into Corbridge which is a lovely little town and I'm sure the shops would have enjoyed having a lot of extra trade. I may suggest that to them for next year.
Thanks Vern for the ticket, it was appreciated and I really enjoyed the company. I hardly spent any time in the main arena as it was nice to be able to chill out, get chairs out, sit and do some crafting whilst chatting with others, without any fear of being moved on or causing disapproval. Its not something I can often do as I can't use campsites as a camper van. And I've been very tired and not in the best mood recently so wasn't up for a boisterous time, just needed to sit and chill. And the entertainment provided by Mr Onion was up to it's usual high standards, Chris surpassed himself with his impressive range of gadgets including Pimms on tap, and Alec managed to bring the subject of sex into every conversation. As for Mary flashing her boobs, sitting on peoples knees, and making it clear that she did not need or want anyone to carry her chair, well, that kept everyone laughing too ;-)
And the lovely magic fairy goosemother did my washing up for me before I got up on Sunday morning so I'm definitely going to more festies with her :-D
Gaz and Ange, you were missed, you would have really enjoyed it so make sure you get your asses there next year, it's just down the road from you so no excuses.
I'm on the road now for the next few weeks / months although will have to pop home at least once at some point and am still in the area and hoping to visit the goose later this week. Still haven't got Farmer Phil's ticket but will get it this week.
I've deactivated my Fb account, fed up with it controlling my life so will hopefully be posting more now. Vern, is there a way of keeping a blog on here where I can keep a kind of online journal, post pics etc.
That's all I have to report folks, I'll keep you posted as to whether I have enough fuel to get me to Consett after last night's unintended mileage around Derwent Res to rescue a mislaid cat....

@wvw Glad you had a good time!
I guess we could have a blog forum with subforums for individual blogs in the wilders layby lounge. Each blog would be like a county forum in the WCL section ... or something like that.
One's blog could either be open to 250 post members or PW protected to choice. Maybe if I set something up in "draft" and ask for the approval of the site team ...

Vern, that sounds good. I know I could start a thread but knowing how easy it is for threads to go off topic, I just know that would really P*** me off, and it would be good to be able to keep a kind of online journal of my adventures. And also so that someone somewhere has some idea of where I am!
It would be good if it has a password protect so that there is the option of making some posts private to a select few for security reasons eg, I don't like posting where I am staying overnight publicly but happy to let good friends know. Where I am now, there is no Voda reception but I have got a weak 3 signal so able to get online and able to let folks now roughly where I am.

I have set something up for people to look at.
There's 3 blogs at the moment. A person and B person, both unprotected. C person is password protected. The password is welcome123. You could have an open blog or a closed one or both!
I think it may even be possible so only a group of people can see a blog, but the easiest way to do that may be to have a pw protected one, and then you can give the password to who you want via PM. The password can be changed at any time by asking the admin (NB The password is locked up in board settings so would be visible to any admin if they looked, so a blog would never be totally private).
It may be possible to make people "local mods" of their own blogs only. That way you can close threads or remove off topic posts like a FB newsfeed page. Different rules would apply for the blogs in that the blog owner would delete or close whatever they wanted to rather than the open forum where stuff is not deleted, only moved on agreement.

You still want to spend another weekend beside us after last weekend Freeloading Perv? I will make sure there will be no videos of your sexists comments this time. I think you have got the taste for festivals now, strutting your stuff in your long boots, camo shorts and wearing your hat.
