First thing to do is to take out the bulkhead between the front seats and the rear load area. I planned to do this today, but the toolbox in the back weighs well over 100kg, so I need to wait until my son gets home to help lift it out!
More to follow soon...................

if you spent less time taking photos and talking about it, and more time getting on with it you'd have finished it by now !

if you spent less time taking photos and talking about it, and more time getting on with it you'd have finished it by now ! Well all I've got to do really is chuck a sleeping bag/portaloo and camping stove in the back and it's job done so shouldn't take long! Incidentally, do I need to fit any vents in the back of the van?

I'd put a roof vent of some sort in any van I was sleeping in for air and to keep down condensation. are you insulating it ?

Yes, I was going to use that silver foil stuff (Splitty got his from Jewsons I think) and then a full ply lining and a mini Heki rooflight. Cooker will be next to side door so can slightly open it if need be. Can't seem to find any 3mm ply locally though? Most of the kits use 6mm, but I'd rather keep the weight down as much as possible. If you know anywhere round your way, I can always pick some up on the way back from Caerphilly.

Lovely job. I'm looking forward to following this build. Is that the one that has three seats? It does have 3 seats at the front. I was thinking of changing to 2 but why bother, if it's raining, I'll take out the headrests and crawl over the top of the passenger seats to get to the back. It's actually a very comfortable drive.

Not sure on engine as mine's the older XUD 1.9 N/T but identical body/running gear. I'm guessing Your Van's sound if Your gonna convert but IF...... ...& forget the ply...mine's got a GRP lining in the back!.....ex-Billingsgate fish wagon!!!!

Lovely job. I'm looking forward to following this build. Having been very close to doing a similar 'adaptation' (not conversion) 2 years ago, I'll also be following its progress as I may well be doing an adaptation myself next year on a Dispatch (or another Kangoo/Berlingo). Please share pics!!

Great project. I had always thought of one of these for a second vehicle. Either this one or the Ford Connect. The Kangoo size is a bit small for me.

A simple and insurable idea, but not one which would suit me. I'd like a sink, loo (even if never used!) and single bunk arrangement with space to move around them in situ. A hob and bridge would also be nice but I realise that would make an adaptation (vs self-build) uninsurable.
When the time comes, I'll probably opt for another Kangoo with a simplified version of its predecessor's layout.
