That looks interesting Anne - thanks for the link, I will try to remember to watch it on Thursday. Great to finally meet you on Sunday. Following your recommendation we went straight to have a look at the Auto Sleepers and my friends realised that they had already fallen in love with the Nuevo when they saw one earlier this year so it looks like that's what they are going to get

Most of the programme was fill-up, but have to say, didn't he do well with the Bus? - top job for that budget and creative use of second hand materials.

Wow, are your frinds getting a brand new Nuewo?? We were looking at those, think it was EK and ES and they were really nice, good design great layouts and quality build, . My van is 25 years old and has really stood the test of time, no missing handles, broken catches etc. I hope they are very happy with it, and maybe be see them at a meet some time and have a chance to admire van!!

Vern - I didn't know you could watch it ahead of live schedule, but will still watch on Thurs on big TV screen. Format sounds oh so predictable - but hey ho, we love it!! IS there music to match the mood and build up the tension?! Nigel - will be interesting for you to see then, and compare notes. NOt the same base vehicle though I dont think? Ellis boy, I never saw first series, but i do like Grand designs, do 't kow if it has a similar feel?

No I didn't notice any music. To be fair they set up the challenge, and then left him to it, coming back at the end to see it completed, rather than following it closely with lots of clock ticking, budget watching, and fake drama Very little detail of what he actually put in the bus though. That was all glossed over in favour of visits to other "small spaces," again all very superficial with lots of jokes and idle chit chat rather than any details of solar installations, electrics or water systems. I guess they are trying to make a TV programme to appeal to the masses, who probably aren't that interested in conversions, rather then boring anoraks like me who would actually like to know more detail of what was done.

Another programme I really want to watch on Thursday is the one where a bunch of blokes are going to recreate the Shackleton expedition to the South Pole, or more specifically the trip ES made in one of the lifeboats to get help for the stranded expedition. Shackleton is one of my all time heroes and any documentaries about him I find I must watch.
He was a real wild camper!

The bus was pretty low budget - £4000 for such a big space was not bad. But little detail apart from he got this or that wood for free etc

I would consider £7-800 a low budget, Nigel, and your pointers would be much appreciated.

OK I will just sneak off somewhere now. .... Tom ....

The bus was 3-4 times as big as a small van so pro-rata on materials, it would have been £1000 to fit out a smaller space. I'd definitely say that was low budget. I think he refurbed both inside and outside the bus in his budget.

The program was interesting, the conversion looked really nce but whole thing cost around £13000 and don't know how practical it would be, very littel storage space, when kids beds were out parents would have to sit in cab! Once their bed was up too which went over kitchen - nothing was accessible. No toliet either no even pull out porta loo Think they could have got a LOT more for their money and bet they end up selling it - at a loss. The ould def have been better getting NBrownd to do it!!Other items in the show included a massive wooden ball/boat which was really cool

lotusanne I think I missed the ambulance - the one I saw was about an old coach. I'll have to check the website.
