He must be about 65 now - still a great act though. Wears lots of make up for stage, a bit surreal.

I feel left out, I'm not going anywhere this weekend! I have been working in Wales though so it feels a bit like a holiday just not in my van! Have a good time everyone, I'll welcome any newbies if I see any!

Judging by the Cropredy crowd, it's mostly pensioners! Very relaxed here They still could be wealthy though.... who knows!

Can't see any pictures Chap ! You probably need a Facebook account. They are public, so anyone on Facebook should be able to see them. I'll upload a few highlights here! Camping Camping Levellers Alice Cooper and stage

Alice Cooper Fairport Convention (Bloke on the left, Chris Leslie, Played about 10 different instruments, made his own violin, composes, and does vocals too! (he's not playing violin in this pic, it's a tenor uke I think)) Peatbog Faeries Levellers Levellers Best music: Levellers and Peat Bog Faeries Best stage act/effects: Alice Cooper Also good: Fairport Convention and some of 10cc Disappointing: Nik Kershaw and Jasper Carrot (he made a 20 minute surprise stand up appearance) Other support bands were mostly very good. Own food and alcohol allowed in the arena. Camping very pleasant. Recommended festival. (PS If there had been any sheep around those dogs would have rounded them up in a flash!)

Look fab, I didn't realise dogs would be allowed, I may have to go to one next year! Beau should be used to staying in the van on her own for a bit by then too!

Yes it is a good one for dogs. Lots of walking available on the canals which run through the whole site.
Also distance-wise good for a lot of people as Banbury quite central. Slight caveat about the bands though as the line up can be very varied from year to year. Some excellent acts this year though.
I'm hoping to do Beautiful Days (Levs festival down in Devon next year but it sells out quick. Luckily I met up with some people who always go down to that so I will know someone)
WindDancer took her dogs down for the afternoon bit and then back to the van for the evening so she could walk around more and go in the mosh pit. It's only 5-10 min walk back to the camp field. Not too much of a mosh pit at this festival as quite an older age profile but the Levellers and the Peat Bog Faeries got the pit moving!

Look fab, I didn't realise dogs would be allowed, I may have to go to one next year! Beau should be used to staying in the van on her own for a bit by then too! There were loads of dogs there, and all seemed to be well under control I chose this festival because they allowed dogs. Shame it clashed with Farmer Phil's though as it is one of the few that also allow them. I would definitely go back again as I really enjoyed it. There were around 20,000 people there, but it was very relaxed and laid back. Everyone was friendly and there was no trouble of any sort.

Sounds great Vernon and Chris, glad you had a good time. Nothing like a festival and all that music for filling the soul! SaaFest was something really special, very small and intimate, mostly just the musicians and their families and friends, plus the posse from Wildcamping. The music was really excellent , far exceeded my expectations and everyone loved it. Can't recommend it highly enough, one for the diary for next year

Farmer Phil's; Rough and ready new performance area this year apparently. Two stages and a variety tent in the wooded area above the lake....the diggers and tractors were still working on it an hour before the first set on Friday afternoon! That added to the happy-go-lucky atmosphere though. Great spacious camping area with toilets (three fields), showers, water and a shop. All ages here...lots of new age people, many doggies, all under control, a few happy drunks, plenty of motorhomers and met a couple with a big W in their windscreen. Bar prices were very reasonable at £3 a pint for ale. The food stalls were good value for money too. Musical highlights for me were The Red hot Chilli Pipers The Elecrtic Swing Circus The New Groove Formation ....and an angelic voice in the form of Nikky Rous on the acoustic stage which was run by a long haired layabout called Moon Rivers who closed the festival on that platform with some beautifully performed folk numbers. The one disappointment were Ferocious Dog....They performed their short ditties about revolution and corporate greed well enough but followed up by urging everyone to go and buy their merchandise...Er? Altogether a fantastic long weekend and the best value around, in my opinion. A couple of long hikes in the Shropshire hills early in the mornings followed by good beer, fantastic company and great music! .....Oh, and on the way back popped in to see Mr n brown for a cuppa tea an a slice o'cake ....it's not true he doesn't make them cakes at all, tis all his other half's work. Nice Shed(s) by the way!

Sounds great RT. INterested in new layout but can't picture it cos can't even remember a lake! Ferocious Dog and New Groove foundation were both on at Harefest and also at Farmer Phil's last year, I really like them both, but then have got Irish roots! xx
