We have just returned from our first week of complete wilding since we bought our MH 15 months ago. Done lots of weekends but not had the annual leave available before.
So left Stratford on Monday after 3 nights, complete with sunburnt face and tender posterior caused by falling backwards from the steps, we drove up to Chorley and stopped on sister's drive. (bought the chorley cakes as requested by Mrs Stonedaddy)before crossing over the Dales to Ribblehead with the intention of wildcamping near the Viaduct but the wind and rain got the better of us and we ended up in the Station Inn car park and enjoyed a lovely meal. Woke to thick fog but it soon cleared.
Next stop was Semer Water for lunch, a lovely wilding spot - if the farmer sees you then he will wants paying. Up onto the tops for the night, cooked supper and settled for the night then the wind started, we weren't comfortable so decided to drive down to a layby just off the Leyburn road - great fun driving down really narrow, twisty roads in the pitch black and wearing PJs.... Did sleep better though.
Thursday was altogether different - we went into Whitby, had a mooch about and bought fish & chips ( car park ticket covered us until 9 am but BIG sign said no overnight camping?)- fantastic weather and we found a wilding spot not on our POI by a waterfall. Got owners permission to stay. best nights sleep and a lie in before cooking bacon and eggs.
Time to drive south and stopped in York to do tourist bit (layby just outside which I am convinced was a dogging site but himself said I was imagining things..) The York Park and ride was great with selected campervan area and the height barrier lifted.
We had a brilliant week away and can't wait until September when we are off again. Meanwhile looking forward to Brandon and the Cheese Meet.
Linda (and himself of course)
