If your table supplied is not the right size or you don't have one, then how about using the 535mm diameter bar table from Argos. www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6000774.htmIt's £39.00 but they do have them on offer from time to time. It's fully adjustable in terms of height and it rotates and easily movable. Not too big either, it shouldn't get in the way. Ideal dining for two or drinks for four or five. It will dismantle in 1 minute for storage flat, using a power screwdriver. If you don't want to pay £39.00, you can make your own top from furniture board or thick ply and mount on a suitable stand.

Thanks for that Vernon. I've bought a table base unit which fits the original vw pedestal so will need to make a top which the base thing is screwed on to. Could be square but I think the round one works well. Will need to decide on size. Then there's back storage to sort - this van refinement malarkey is never ending!
Any other VW t4 owners come up with ideas for maximising storage?

No probs.
That furniture board is good for this as it comes in 610mm widths and 535mm is good to fit in. My table was 535, but you could have up to 610mm. However, some people don't like the knots on it as it is made by gluing strips of pine together under pressure and the knot pattern can be a bit strange. I think it will be OK if it is stained and varnished though. Could even paint it black or another colour.
If it's what you need, I can cut you a top and sand down the edge for you.

Hi Vernon think I'll go with 20 inch - if it's too big I'll whittle some off! Might buy some of that oil cloth stuff to make a little round table cloth! Awwwww sweet.....cheers

Best to get the right size as I'm going to sand the edge smooth for you round the curves You could commission some pyrography table decoration artwork from WVW ?! Does your table top have a swivel fitting on it... fun for drinks and nibble parties!

No unfortunately it will not double as a lazy suzy - guests will have to go to the trouble of MOVING THINGS FOR THEMSELVES! Pyrography? Presumably burning patterns etc as in your wooden spoon? Will re re re- measure and get back to you

it's quite easy to cut designs on a table top with a straight cutter in a router, making grooves a couple of mm deep.these can be filled with different coloured wood fillers or body filler, then sanded flush when hard. patterns can be made drilling holes and gluing in different coloured dowels, then cutting them off and sanding. if you have a compass attachment for the router, you can do all sorts of geometric patterns

Looks impressive, I need to make some new table tops too, for some reason the ones that came with my van are about big enough to fit one dinner plate on and that's it!

I think 20" or about 508mm would do two dinner plates in comfort.
Another idea for a table top: burn or inlay a chess board with decorative borders.

I like the chess board idea!
My two tables are about 12 inches round, I guess I can put my dinner on one table and a drink on the other one! Its at the bottom of my list like the idea of a decorative table top!

Could do a pentagram, LOL.
I checked Wickes last week and they were out of 610mm wide pine furniture board. I'll have a look tonight if possible.

LOL... close but no cigar. 50p has seven sides from memory and pentagram based on 5 sided thingy... but it will keep the evil spirits at bay. Pentagram in a circle is symbol of Wicca
