Not stayed there, but I know of it because have worked for Lee Valley on some of their bridges in the park. Excellent watersports (gulp!) available nearby, also riverside walks through Lee valley park through woods and meadows. Lots of wildlife. Pretty good park considering so near to London.

I never been to the Chelsea flower show before, but seen pictures and vids on You Tube. I think it's pretty spectacular, all kinds of different secret gardens and ideas and also great for photography!
Hope the weather is good as a lot outdoors. I'd go to see the gardens and the water features/fountains and all the clever places they create inside the gardens, I think they have competitions as to the best ones.
Site is only a couple of miles from Oakwood on the Piccadily, Woodford on the Central or the Overground at Enfield.

I went to Chelsea flower show with my sister about 5 years ago. We went on a day when they don't let plebs like you in {sniff}, so it wasn't as busy as you probably found it rofl I'd always wanted to go. Enjoyed it - I'm a fanatical gardener - but, same as you, wouldn't bother going again. Nice to say you've been, at least you know what it's like now
