After a month of no progress due to no money and poor weather( I have to cut everything outside) things have happened! As the weather seems to be turning I ordered some lining boards, knock in edging, and radius corner all in light oak. Also bought a slot cutter to cut the groove for the knock in edgings.Magnums is brilliant! Considering that they are in Grimsby and me in Bournemouth.I ordered Thursday morning and it arrived Friday afternoon! 4 sheets of 8 x 4 ply and it was very well packaged and Undamaged . Made a Start on the dinette area and Im pleased with the results. Attachment Deleted

This looks very good. That's a nice colour choice too, it will add a very light and spacious feel to the van.

Ive done my van in the maple....oak for me was less forgiving for mistakes as im not buying the 12 or 15mm laminated sheets im buying the 3mm sheets and ply and gluing them together on the cheap...lol Im actually quite surprised at the results im getting for cutting corners..more hard work lots of sanding but im able to custom make my cupboard doors, which i must say look quite good ..(just dont open them as then you can see the rough timber) if i had the money i would definitely buy the laminated boards for an overall better finish. needless to say im enjoying every minute of the build and learning loads...for the next one!!!!

I've been busy making a wall cupboard that fits over the setee . The front is made out of strips of 12mm ply which are biscuit jointed and glued and the base is one piece of 12mm.Then laminated with 3mm light oak .They are joined together by a radius corner piece. The doors are made with 9mm ply and 2 pieces of 3mm oak.The outside edge Of the doors and the inside opening of the cupboard are edged with knock in edging. This was done with my latest tool,a 1/4 inch router from eBay and a slot cutter bit from Magnums. I'm really pleased with the results and must say a big thank you to Nigel for his picture tutorial and advice. Its quite a lot of work, but well worth the effort. Ive two more to make now! Also managed to cut and glue on the side wall of the wet room and make the lid for the settee, which houses the boiler and batteries .

It's not bad Vern,I've used a standard Thetford tray and swivel bowel toilet.Made a small vanity cupboard and used a domestic Bristan shower mixer valve.Im thinking to add a small basin, but not sure where to locate it yet.

Your van looks a treat. Your job is far more professional than mine. I am more electrical/mechanical than carpenter but I do my best and get by. If we ever get to a meet, please don't park yours up next to mine, you'll show me up.
All the best and keep posting.

I used a small corner basin in mine. It was from CAK tanks. The smallest one they do. I built a cubpoard underneath to store a water tank disinfectant and other toilet type items

Thanks for the kind words!
Vern! That basin looks the same as the Magnums one, about 280 x 280 and the smallest one you can get,
Nigel! I put the hinges on the door first (as per your pic) and then measured the knob,to find the centre of the hole (20mm as Ive used mini catches ), then a bit more measuring for the latch bit ,then bit te bullet and drilled the hole. This all worked fine until I came to fit the striker plate. It wouldn't fit over the knock in edging,so removed it and screwed it to the ply, then replaced the edging. And bingo they don't rattle either so the striker must be in the right place!
Bopper! I'm not a carpenter either ,but I've invested in some tools (all second hand from eBay ) a biscuit jointer and a 1/4 inch collet router.I also bought a table saw but Ive only used it once as the motor has packed up.

Progress report: Now made the cupboard over the sink. This was a bit harder as it needed a back and an angled end piece.Turned out quite well though and there's plenty of room inside ,enough to take a shelf. I've decided to make this for food storage, tins etc.

The cunning extra workspace design! I thought of squeezing one in there, but a hinge down from the opposite wall. I like yours better but couldn't do that on mine as that is where the cutlery drawer is.
