Ther's been a really interesting thread on another forum about the above. Something that got a lot of praise was the double skillet. As I haven't got an oven in my van and did want one, I wonder if anyone has any opinions/advice?

Everyone I know who has these raves about how wonderful they are. I've never seen any nor seen them in use but could be interested if they are as good as the enthusiastic reviews suggest.

I followed another thread on this and was all set to buy one. The thing that put me off was the cost of delivery which was very expensive. I've had furniture delivered cheaper If I can organise getting one at a show I'll get one, as they do sound very good.

I'm using the large heavy lidded Saute Pan I got at the NEC as a Dutch oven. It's ceramic non stick and I've lined the heavy glass lid with silver foil and built a wire rack to keep things at about the centre of the "oven". We baked 3 small cakes in their last weekend quite successfully. I also use it for grilling, frying, boiling, steaming and stews as well as baking. Who needs a double skillet when you have a pan like this ?!

Yes but could you do chicken and roasties in it?? Chicken pieces, yes. Roasties I reckon probably, but they may take a bit longer. I reckon balance a small roasting tin on the rack. Not sure how hot it would get. Downside is you can only cook for 1 or 2 if roasting, due to size of the pan. In that respect the large Double Skillet would be better for a bigger group.

There's usually a lady selling double skillets at most motorhome shows, she cooks some amazing things, especially roast chicken. We use Dutch oven, with a tripod for open fires and also on the hob in the van.

Thanks daisy, I was hoping to save the £10 P&P However, it looks like she is only going to Peterborough show this year.
