Anybody going to this? It is in September at Henry's Campsite in Helston Cornwall. Julie and I went last year with Jac and Paul (Herbenny), had a great time, really quirky site in great location, really quirky acts. Were booking again this year.

Cornwall is a long way from Bradford! Think it would take me 2 days to get there!

You could do it in a day, easy... but it is a long Trek - 300 miles for me. Probably 350 for you. 6 hours drive, 2 lots of 3 with break.

I've got it penciled in, undecided for sure but it's a definite maybe I'm still waiting for a response to my enquiry if they are accepting dogs again this year. Not heard yet, but it's only been a week Firefox you really must get to Cornwall!!

I've never been to Cornwall either, it would be nice to make it down there sometime! Maybe we should plan a Cornwall forum meet for next summer - if we don't make it this one!

Wasn't Cornwall being boycotted due to its campervan parking policy??! You are quite right! Cornwall has a council backed policy of NO OVERNIGHT SLEEPING IN M/H. This ban applies to all their car parks in the county with a fine of £70. They state that they WILL police this enforcement with wardens. Many Motorhome owners are boycotting Cornwall as a result of this, and I shall be one of them.

They have banned motorhomes overnight outright from 17 council car parks: www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=33744For the rest of the car parks, there is only a ban on overnight sleeping which they admit they can't enforce, hence the above ban. It's still possible to wild elsewhere and park in some streets etc.

The signs are now up..... in the Newquay car parks anyway. "No Motorhome parking 2300-0800" Means it'll be an expensive night out on the town if I use my usual haunt. Anne; Tattie Oggies- the local term for Pasty. And you can get them with one half savoury, the other sweet, that is; Jam and Clotted Cream just like they used to have for their crib down the tin mines! Ever heard the chant "Oggie! Oggie! Oggie! Oi! Oi! Oi!? It originated here during the great pasty riots of 1786 when the foriegn Westminster parliament tried to implement legislation to force pasty makers to replace the turnip content with the far less nutritious Mangelwurzel! Tis fur sheep fer crissakes! You could hear my great great grandfather ranting.....Apparently

Oh, I know what you mean now, just never heard that name! Do you know what's behind the motorhome overnight bans?

Just the usual I think..... Nimbys complaining, B&Bs and hotels whinging about loss of business etc. I may have contributed to the ban myself by parking overnight in the car parks when in town for a night......sorry! I don't really pay much attention to the politics of it, there are so many other places to stop without any bother. None of the locations on the WCLs are affected.

I just got my reply from little big gig, and although sketchy it appears that they are not allowing dogs this year. I shan't go in that case but you all have a great time as it looks a lovely festival. I'm sure I will cope with the disappointment as am now looking at the possibility of another extended trip to the highlands instead

A lot of festivals don't seem to allow dogs outright. They should make more of a distinction between dogs and well controlled dogs, there's quite a difference.

Fair points, but they could meet dog owners half way more. For example, allow them in the camping fields on leads but not the festival arena itself. Instead they seem to exercise a blanket ban.

Interesting illustration to favour having dogs off lead when young livestock are around, but not attending a festival. Depends how you perceive the way one would treat their dogs in that environment. I would never put my dogs at risk, or even have them feel uncomfortable. I do not take risks with my dogs and I know their limitations, and as anyone who knows me will tell you - my dogs welfare comes first, above and beyond...

I just read that back and want to clarify that in saying I do not take risks with my dogs, I was relating to how I would look after my own dogs (festival or otherwise). It was not aimed at anybody else.

The point i was making was, who , if they took their would if challenged say " yesmy dog /s are viscious" hence not being allowed in? The other point was my are brilliant but i would'nt trust the one in crowds with the danger also of them bieng trood on. All the festivals i've been to would not have been suitable to have dogs at. I wasn't having a dig at you winddancer .
