Famtastic job and great blog, read it with interest from begining to end. Years ago ny ex and I convereted a few vans, mostly VWs until we did a Mercedes Sprinter which we kept for ages then he kept whe we split up. I bought myself an ancient Commer Highwayman van thag I loved to bits bit stuggled badly up hills - I joke that joggers used to overtake us but that actually happened in Harlech!! So I can fully appreciate the work time and effort you have put in here... and thats not counting the thousands of hours planning the layout, changing your mind, finding that the original plan won't fit for some reason, sourcing parts etc etc. It takes a LOT of time, skills and pereseverance to complete a project like this and I have the utmst admiration for anyone that takes it on. Out of curiosity I am wondering why you want to do it again? What would you do differently? It looks like you have got the lot there and I really like the design you cam up with - and all in a van that's not yoo big to travel small country lanes and park up fairly easily. A massive well done anyway and thanks for sharing

Brilliant blog Paul. And a very similar layout to my own self build Movano. Some great ideas to inspire people. I especially liked the use of the stainless steel Ikea table top. I bought in some stainless steel sheet for mine but it was nearly £100 and a hassle to obtain. Thanks for posting!

Lotusanne, I was thinking of doing another because i enjoyed it, it certainly keeps the brain cells active as well as the hands. Ideally i would like something like the swift bel-air to refurb completely, custom paint and wheels with lots of luxury inside, alas i don't think theres many knackered ones about, unless any of you know of any! You are right when you mention the size though, under 3500kg and van sized gets you anywhere a car can, not withstanding the height restriction, especially in Cornwall and small french villages and to top it off after fitting a chip to the ECU i got an average of 34mpg over 2300 miles in France last year, that includes whatever the frugal Eberspacher uses. Firefox, I love searching out alternative uses for stuff that is a fraction of the cost, as in the worktop, think laterally that's what i say!

nice job and good use of the donor bits ! I think you shoul think deeply about doing another van,as any junkie will tell you,the second hit is the one that hooks you,and then you end up like me,a shallow husk of ideas, layouts, shortcuts, techniques and tips until you're thinking of the next one as you're starting this one !still, keeps me off the streets

I can think of worse uses of your time \NBrown, and having seen some of the photos of your past conversions I think you are making great use of your creative skills as well as all the other skills required, you really have an eye for making them look good as well as beautifully constructed and finished and that little bit different. How many have you done do you think?
