A very big thank you to the lovely N8bos in wigan for installing the roof light ~ I'm lying in bed looking at it and am thrilled not to have to put the light on or open curtains to be able to brew up. What a difference! Thanks also to winddancer for the bargain, I couldn't afford a new one and this will make a huge difference. Rest assured it's got a good home! I'm still on N8bos's drive, as he's going to give me a guided tour of my engine today so that I know what's what. No more problems with the flashing coil light on the way here. Yesterday when we changed the rear light bulb that was out, we discovered that it was a loose connection not the bulb so that could have been the cause of the warning light. Tomorrow I'm meeting up with big Boack in Carnforth who has a starter battery for me and then finally home on Thursday night in time for Rigg's 10th birthday on Friday ~he's got several new toys from crufts. I'm tempted to stay away on Thursday night instead of going home so that he can have a good run on the beach for his birthday. Thanks again to everyone who has donated their time and various items to help me and the BWV ~ it's becoming more and more like a proper camper and less like a mobile tent and I love it and love life on the road and I'm very grateful for all the help.

Roof light is looking great I found mine made a big difference, even encouraging me to get out of bed, because I can maintain pretty much a blackout when the cab is closed off and I suspect yours can be similar

looking good, it does make a lot of difference, it always amazes me how people will help out, it just goes to show there are good people out there, but I was a bit worried when I saw the title of the thread, I still looked though

And now I've got a radio which works in the cab too ;D yet again thanks to N8rbos who donated it and wired it in. He has been a star and the jobs he has done will make a huge difference. The van is not far off being ready for full-timing looking forward to spending most of the summer on the road. The only fly in the ointment is that the clutch is definitely on it's way out and will need to be done in the next month or so but N8rbos has found a place that should be able to do it for about £200 instead of the £1000 quoted by my mechanic so that is manageable. It's a lovely clear starry sky tonight but cold, minus 4, but cat, dog, and woman all snuggled up with hot water bottles.

Presume you mean the Dual Mass version Vernon, mine cost £1300 on my Sprinter! (That was at a Merc garage though).

Yes that's it - Dual Mass Flywheel needs doing along with the clutch (conversion kit?). Shouldn't be as much as £1000 though. I would have hoped for half that price or less.

Depends when the DM was last done. On the Merc they should last about 100,000 miles and they should do the clutch at the same time although they didn't with mine but tried to charge me for a new clutch as well! You will know if the DM is going (basically glue failing!) by a constant shuddering of the vehicle.
