know what you mean. Ours is a quiet commuter land street but one property was bought by housing association and let to a variety of people. On one occasion it was a family of drug dealers...
Comings and going all hours of the night. Fights, breaking glass, things thrown out of windows, late night shouting, and a mini crime wave ensued with vehicles being damaged, old people being abused by the kids etc. Went on for a couple of months with neighbourhood watch being formed, and then it was realised all the trouble came from the same house. Eventually pressure was put on to move them out to some slum where they belonged. As soon as they went, the trouble vanished with them.

sadly Vern i bought a house in a street that was owned by most of the community and im only going back to 2004, since bought up by builders and rented!!! now i live in the very first street i bought a house in years ago, that was a community and is now mostly rental and sadly im one of them, but the difference is im older been there seen it done it and i miss the community where everybody knew each other and people lived in their houses for generations instead of months or years and all community gone!!

We used to live in a good small community when I was young up to about 10. Since then I have lived in various places constantly shifting but I don't really miss community or family. It's good to try new things all the time. The problem with communities and families is that you can be stuck with them I guess. If you get lucky with good ones, it's great, but at least with a life based more on friends you've got more control who they are.

You have my sympathy - although both kids have left home they keep bringing their problems back..... Debts, alcoholic son in law etc.

Sounds very frustrtaing Sue, I am sure you are doing your best, but if your hands are tied then it must be very limiting. Are things any better today?
