Post by Is it spring yet, dormouse? on Nov 24, 2012 10:12:28 GMT
Dandelions? They seem to survive all year round, until the frosts kill the leaves.

Dandelions are very few and far between now - to the disappointment of my rabbits who send me out picking them.

blackberries can still be around and also mushrooms. be careful with mushrooms tho. stinging nettles need to be fresh shoots - spring prolly better?

I really like mushrooms but as a food they have low nutritional value, so debatable if it is worth the effort. Nuts and berries are around at the same time in the Autumn. Several books with different pictures of the same species are handy. I had a good one by Roger Phillips I used to use: www.amazon.co.uk/Mushrooms-Roger-Phillips/dp/0330442376If you can get hold of this it is very useful.

You shouldn't go too far wrong with Sloe Gin. We also make Sloe Brandy and when finished, Julie destones the Brandy infused Sloes and melts chocolate over them - lovely!
