Pagan/Wiccan kind of thing. I've got kind of my own inner religion which is nothing to do with what anyone else (usually a man) made up and wrote down in a book.

I was brought up a christian and had a thirst for all religions as I got older. The more I questioned the more I wanted to explore. My dad is a devout catholic he has wanted to repent for his jack the lad ways when he was younger, he has some amazing views and beliefs of the catholic faith although I choose not to follow that faith for various reasdons. All through my adult life I have studied and tried to teach myself as much as I could about all faiths in particular sufism and buddhism as I take great comfort from both. I am a true spiritualist. I wholeheartedly believe in a god, energy, being, light or whatever you wish to call it,I believe he is our creator our father and our holy spirit. I believe in the power of prayer and I believe there is an afterlife and entering in the next world we look back on the life we have had here and reflect and learn how our actions, thoughts and words have hurt others. We see things through thier eyes and walk in their shoes and feel every once of emotion we may have inflicted on them whether it be good or bad I believe that this is where the saying 'my life flashed before my eyes'. We choose the lessons we want to learn in the next life until we achieve the highest spiritual growth ..time is not of the essence, there is no time. I occasionally feel the need to enter a church the house of god although my god is with me always. I am married to an athiest and we have never felt the need to try convert each other. I respect his beliefs and he respects mine, if only the people in the world could show more tolerance for others and thier chosen faith maybe the worl would be a better place.
I dont know what possessed me to spill all that out LOL..........Perhaps I felt reassured that it was safe to do so.

^ There's many parallels with me there, and some differences too. I often wonder what the world views would be if nobody was taught religion, but every one was free to think for themselves, and believe whatever they wanted without any influences. That for me would lead to a much happier and stable world

religion?oh yes ,that ridiculous lie perpetrated by cynical power hungry men on a fearful and gullible populace. I hate it with all my might as the biggest cause of conflict and misery and death in the history of mankind. course, that's just my opinion

I agree with you Nbrown religion its the root of all evil in my opinion. You only have to switch on the tv to see what the world is fighting about. Its all money money money corruption and more money !! There is a lot of difference in a belief in a so called 'religion' and having a strong spiritual faith. Thats why I choose the latter.

I pretty much agree with the last couple of posts.
For me, the problem is organised religion...mostly tools for oppression.
Faith is different. Faith is something I can respect. On those rare occasions I talk to people about their religion, they almost always disagree with what their religious leaders are saying, but that doesn't stop them being muslim, catholic or protestant. The problem that I see is certain types of men (and it does always seem to be men) using religion as a means towards power. In a bygone age, sons in high class families were often expect to become barristers, army officers or bishops.
Recent I have been attracted by the church of FSM.

Wait for it... here it comes..... I have the body of of God.... Buddha! (the old uns are the gud uns)
I was brought up as a Christian and like others on here had to go to Sunday School Etc. I was even a choir boy! Since then I have come to make up my own mind and as a result I cannot now find any belief in a make believe world. Also I too am fascinated by the wonder of nature. I think personally; if I HAD to choose a religion it would be North American Indian, but I feel that even then there would be problems.

I love the ancient beliefs. Just the sun, the forest, the water, and the animals. The only rules are to look after your fellow beings and the environment. Within that you can have faith in whatever God you choose, or non at all. And the amazing thing is, despite the Hubble Telescope or Einstein, those old ideas are just as valid as ever.
