We have a self build campervan, ducato x250, love it to pieces and want to add a bikerack Across the back doors which are glassed. The fiamma dj rack is horrendously expensive, has anyone come up with a diy version that would do the job and still look good. I have considered getting a tow bar fitted around £180 and using a towball bikerack, but would rather do it myself, if any of you guys have any good ideas

Welcome to the forum, first post DIY on that kind of thing and also looking good are almost two mutually exclusive things for me, personally! I can do functional very well, but not always pretty. I would consider doing it in wood myself as my welding/metalwork skills are limited, but I think the best option on a budget may be to look for a second hand rack on ebay, freecycle or similar. Towball rack also a good idea. I am thinking of getting a towball, so that's probably the route I'd take.

I'm looking for a bike rack which will still allow me to open the doors.

You'd maybe just have to go on one door with it? I think I might go with a towball one which means I have to take tohe bike off to open the doors.

My Citroen relay (same as the ducato) came with one but I sold it! Both doors still opened with it fitted, it just clamped onto one of the doors. It was a fiamma one so they are pricey but it worked well I just didn't need it, I put my bike inside the van if I'm taking it with me!
