Bad mobile reception up at Hawes, but I know some of you are able to get internet access. Guys - anybody still up there and reading this, get your lazy asses out of your pits, get down to canteen, clean up your mess - and I mean do a proper job - re-stock the tea and coffee, grovel unconditionally to the canteen manageress and make sure it's back up and ship-shape the way she wants it. They've got a cattle auction tomorrow and she's not happy

I've told Linda, their office manageress, to put you all on latrine duty when you arise from your pits The Mart have admitted there was a "misunderstanding" about what facilities we could and couldn't use in the canteen, and she seemed fine about it, but I've told her to get you all helping clean up in whatever way she thinks fit

Hopefully you'll only need to ask them nicely once

Hopefully you'll only need to ask them nicely once Well, maybe I didn't ask so nicely, but only cos it was me that got the earache at this end and it was done with humour (I hope - my type of humour, unfortunately, so highly debatable whether it's funny or not! ), but it's all been sorted now It was a good weekend - well I enjoyed it anyway! Bit of a storm in a teacup - the canteen wasn't exactly the Ritz, but I can understand why the canteen manager might be upset if her kitchen has been used and not left exactly as we found it. I take full responsibility as it was me who made the decision to use it for communal teas and coffees - well they did have one of those instant boiling water machines and a lovely big oven for frying a full breakfast on! Also they had a solid fuel fireplace, working and obviously used regularly - for those cold Yorkshire days when the auctions are in full swing. We bought our own fuel in the village. Seemed daft not to When it's lashing down outside with howling winds it just seems the right thing to do, so who can blame us? Plus, if all you get is a cold room with a few tables and chairs to sit in out of the weather it's a lot of money to be charging folk for! All's well that ends well, I hope. The fact I did a runner on Sunday (no choice, actually ) and left the stragglers to pick up on latrine duty ... well, can you blame me me?! 'Specially as I'd told those left on site to leave everything exactly as they'd found it We're wildcampers. We make full use of facilities if they're available and at no point were we instructed to the contrary. Made perfect sense to me! Signed: Mongoose Mischief Maker

The pertinent question is.... Will you be organising any future meets?

My idea of organising a meet is phoning up the pub/location, and tell them 20 vans are turning up. After that, everyone makes their own arrangements That includes cleaning up after themselves

The pertinent question is.... Will you be organising any future meets? Debatable I have a personal policy of never going back to the same place twice, not for one minute because there may or may not be any fallout from a wildcampers meet, but because I always want to try somewhere new next time The main fag is collecting any money. I hate it! If someone else volunteered to collect camping fees due I'd be quite happy finding new venues 'til the cows come home

With regards to any monies, if applicable, I always say they are responsible for paying the venue, or the venue will collect. OK, I know I like the quiet life, but too much admin during the week makes me numb to it at weekends.
