Having a great time at the Sandboy, Bawsey lakes, King's Lynnn. Good campfire last night after sampling Thai menu and a couple of beers at the pub. Great venue recently re-opened with loads of space behind in woodland clearings surrounded by silver birch and ash. Opposite Bawsey lakes, old sand pits again with birch, horse chestnut and pine forests. Found plenty of Fly agaric mushrooms in the woods! Landlord is very motorhome friendly at the moment. He is really looking for business - a bit empty at the present as they are just starting anew. Still it looks very promising if it keeps going.

I don't think there is any decent fishing at the moment.
The history is the quarry company had to return the area to a country park as part of the planning. I think the sand pits were de-watered during extraction and then became flooded.
There is no swimming allowed due to weeds and currents which can suck you under. There were two deaths last year after people ignored the no swimming notices, and it was closed for while. Open to foot traffic now though. There was an official carpark (with height barrier) but that has also been closed now after the incidents. I think there is some wild camping off a road which goes through the park.
