Is this a possability? i dont see why not as long as done right and kept to a limited number of vans and bands etc.Location would be a big issue as well as insurance and equipment etc .A farmers field is the obvious spot to look at somewhere like Brownlow arms we had access to 2 fields there and could possibly ask if he has a bigger spot if it was needed.Im very into trying to arrange something like this could make for a hell of a weekend

Could be good Will. Obviously noise would be a consideration. The music meet at the Brownlow was held inside a couple of weeks ago. But I am sure the locals and the caravan site are used to functions in these fields from time to time and we are not talking Glastonbury? Do you mean members playing or invited bands?

It may be possible though it would require huge organisation in terms of time and finance (insurances) etc. If somebody is willing to do it of their own bat as it were, then cool, but as a forum we don't have any finances and intend to be free forever, so we won't ever have any financial back up like for example the big W, and therefore any financial risk would be down to the person organising it which may be too big a risk to take for an individual (eg What happens if was washed out and people don't come etc)
Could be easier to start off with just have members playing informally like we did recently, but over to you on that. I'd say get practicing everyone!

I think it is something to have a go on a small scale like example Brownlow arms farmers field.Use the spill over field we had to set up some sort of small staging then use the electrics to hook some sort of amp, speaker and lighting system.Im pretty sure when the Bikers have their annual rally they organise outdoor music so dont see noise being an issue. The problem will arise from as Firefox said the funds to do it but i think its a matter of equipment what do we have as a group and what could we put together as a group to use also what does Malcom have that we could borrow/hire.This could also be used as a fundraiser for the forum so we do have some capital for the future.Firefox could you possibly appoint yourself or another member you are always in close contact with as a treasurer of sorts.I know sounds bit to caravan club like but if we are to be a smaller scale group then it could be of benefit to us to have soething behind us if we do want to look at the bigger picture with this moving forward.Im all for throwing my hat in the ring and looking for a venue and also looking into requirments within the law etc.If we find somewhere that is off the beaten track and has no bar etc then i know i am covered under my personal license to organise an event of not more than 500 people and last no longer than 168 hours this will allow me to organise music and to sell alcohol and offer refreshments and food. All i need to do is apply for a temporary events notice on my license which i can do 12 times per year. Its actually a handy thing to have for this type of thing.Right rant over let me know what you think probably best to find someone with a spare bt of land we can use would make the legals easier on my part with my license.

Hi Doodles, there was a lot of interest in another Music meet in a more Southern location on the other forum so I am guessing that this would be similar. What about combining it with your birthday meet? I am happy to help with organsising meet but not the music part as not a musician, but there are plenty more who are!

We won't be appointing anyone formally as a treasurer because finances is a tricky area and it can end easily in tears! But if you want to advertise on the board for any member to help you run finances informally and not as part of the official forum dealings, feel free in the sales and wants forums Essentially this forum is just a group of friends. It has no finances or any backing behind it. This is a totally different concept to Wild Camping For Motorhomes, which was a commercial enterprise and had Phil's company Exceeder behind it. Equipment available at the moment is one firepit, which belongs to the Southern Frosties group, but I'm sure it could make the trip to Newark again. We may have a Gazebo or small marquee at some stage but it will be very small scale. We won't ever need any funds for the forum it is all completely free forever (Hurray!) However, if anyone ever wants to help make the board advert free they can donate via pay pal to Proboards: www.proboards.com/credit-purchase.cgi?freemotorhominguk.boards.netThis money goes direct to Proboards, not to any of us, and gives us credits to remove adverts for a month (if we have enough credits in our account)

festival seems like a great idea but be careful of organising your own even a small one. my mate did one and they paid for insurance entertainment license straw bales and all kinds of costs. then it rained really badly and people didnt show even those who promised. the bands etc still want paying. result - many hundred of pounds out of pocket - i think over 1000 pounds.

Thats good advice. Maybe instead of seeing it as a festival we try to get members to agree to perform, more like a music meet? But with a few more musicians? At that time of year we can sit out at night round a campfire

Yeah sounds good, you want to enjoy your birthday not spend it running around trying to keep everything organised!
