Is there any interest in a Devon meet this year, no problem with vans circled around a central firepit or whatever as long as I know. Marquee available if required. Water, Black dump tank and WC on site. Bus will stop outside the gate for transport to the beach or into town.

t6he fishing can be arranged with the local charter boats no problem as long as booked in advance, they do tend to fill quickly in august.

Will come if I'm free. But August tricky this year for me as prob going to farmer Phils for two weekends, then Brighton playing bridge for a weekend, and then volleyball at the end of month.
We have exemption cert and Firepit at the ready though!

May be interested as its close. Is there any cost involved? I can't speak directly for costs, but last year it was very good value. £7 a night for the CL and rallies would likely be less PPPN, so for the area, you won't find better. Many sites round there are charging £30 or £40 a night that time of year. So although it is a licensed CL site, for an official rally it can't be beaten. I'll let Roger fill you in with the full details. Thread from last year showing the site and facilities: freemotorhominguk.boards.net/thread/1226

hi Elaine 15-19th August, will be a shared meet with Wild campingmping fee is £25 for the meet if you come one or the full 5 days. however you could stay one or two days if you wish on the CL at £7 per day so the choice is yours. Add your name to the list if you would like to come. I look forward to meeting a few more of you.

any more for any more will be a few from wild camping as well so 2 separate camps should be fun. I do have a 2 berth caravan available for hire if anyone needs extra space or does not have a van.

I regret to say that as of yesterday the only person to turn up was Gonga, I would like to apologise to him on everyones behalf. As it was his first meet and he made a 300 MILE JOURNEY to get here he was not impressed. He left this morning. As apologies were not received from anyone else remaining on the list I'll not bother again. Community spirit is not what it used to be, I'm sure people have no idea they are being rude to say the least. WC was not much better with only 3/13 turning up. My days of sitting on site waiting for people to turn up are a thing of the past for both clubs. The venue spoilt for all members by an inconsiderate few. The CL will remain open and can accommodate 5 vans at a time if there is space. However I am at this time reluctant to take bookings as another member had booked 5 days and not turned up or let me know. So in short I am a very disappointed bunny today.

Roger I am really sorry to hear that nobody but Gonga turned up. I have noticed that everyone bar yourself and Gonga and Donkytoo where maybes so there was nothing set in stone. As for the WC list I have not looked at that over there. I really feel for Gonga because to do a 300 mile trip is an absolute disaster especially being his first meet. I know the reason for most not being on the list this year is that horrid little road. To walk in any direction to a pub is a nightmare. No lights no pavement and very busy. I know there is a bus but we like to take the dogs with us and it means set times to get home from the pub. I hope Gongs does not think this is the norm and he puts his name down for more meets in the future. I know some people are not as considerate as they should be because 13 never turned up at Hadyn's Caerphilly cheese meet but who did turn up had a great time. Well lets hope people are more considerate after reading your post in the future. .... Tom ....

Cheers Tom, I know the road is dicy but other ralliers bring their drinks with them. I did erect a huge marquee, filled with seats and tables, arranged a karaoke lighting etc. A lot who were on the list and cancelled had been before so were aware of the road. I fixed the dump point etc., after comments last time but cannot do owt about the road, however did make a path cross the field and lowered the hedge so it could be climbed over, not ideal I know. Never mind lessons have been learnt and will not be repeated.

I was a 'maybe' on the list, so dont consider I was rude by not informing anyone. We were intending to drive straight from a 3 week trip in Spain, driving up from the ferry at Plymouth, but I got sea sick on the ferry and was in no fit state, plus probs with the animals at home left us no choice. Yes it was a poor show with only one turning up, but thats life Im afraid.I can understand your frustration as Ive been in similar circumstances, and on other occasions driven 100's of miles to shows only to be let down on arrival.

Shame people couldn't make it, it would be a good idea to let the event organiser know if you're a maybe. If I'm not sure I usually say, don't put me down, and I'll make it on the day, and wild camp nearby if space is short. That way there's no expectation either way
