*Plastic drinks bottles make excellent storage for new drinks. Or the top can be cut off and you can use the bottom to save bottle caps, pennies, stones, pencils or any other small items you want to store or recycle. Two bottle bottoms nested one over the other (may have to make a slit down side) makes a waterproof cap for your container. Why waste money buying storage containers or trays.

I used to use plastic milk containers full of water to weigh down a tarp whilst over my boat for winter storage.

I've seen the people in the market do that. You can also fill them with stones/earth for extra weight and then fill with water to catch the gaps between the stones.

Two more ideas for plastic bottles.
The larger ones can be laid on their side and the tops cut off to use as planting pots to grow your own food - vegetables and herbs.
The top of a plastic bottle can be used as a plastic bag closer. Cut off the top. Feed the end of the opened plastic bag eg rice etc through from underneath. Fold the polythene down over the screw part of the bottle. Screw the cap back on trapping the polythene in the screw top threads. Instant closure/ziplock!

Yes, a versatile item that can be used for so many things! From storage to temporary container for things ranging from paperwork to wee wee!
Btw, I weight the tent down with old stainless steel kettles ( the ones shaped like bells). They're more shiny than the plastic!

once I fitted out a wholefood shop and we cut quite sturdy handled bottles into scoops for the grains and pulses.they make easily tied floats for fishing nets. a thing I used to do with the kids,on a beach, is tie a length of rope to a 2 ltr bottle full of water, then start swinging it in a circle, slowly letting out the line. the centrifugal force increases till it's a real struggle to keep it up and stay upright ! no tv,eh?
