Hi there. I'm new to FMUK, though getting on in years a bit myself. I converted a semi high top 54 reg Transit and do a fair bit of travelling around, and hope to record some of the nice little spots I end up overnighting or even spending time in. What I need to know is how one can discover the OS co-ordinates in order to comply with the rule here. Is there an easy way? Thank you, Dave Halfwit.

Find your location on Google maps. Right click and select "what's here?" It puts on an arrow which if you hover the mouse on gives the coords Or they are in the link to the place in the links panel eg goo.gl/maps/8P8vUmaps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.947838,-0.090096&hl=en&ll=51.947851,-0.090149&spn=0.000913,0.002162&num=1&t=h&z=19 In this example, the coords are 51.947851,-0.090149

Welcome....er, better call you Dave! What rule would that be then? Do you mean the Ordnance Survey grid references? As far as I know you can only get these from the OS Landranger or Explorer maps which are divided into 100 km squares with a two letter prefix....then subdivided into 1 km squares numbered 0 to 99 and read eastings first then northings (along the corridor and up the stairs)The side of each square can be divided again into 10 giving you a reading of two letters and six numbers denoting an area of 10 square metres.
If you mean google maps for satnav then it's what Firefox said.

Hi lotusanne, Firefox, Rubbertramp and Oldish Hippy. Thank you all for your kind responses - I didn't realise it was fairly straightforward finding the OS grid refs. I'm always spying these nice little tucked away lay-bys or other perfect little stopping places, and it seems such a waste to see no wild campers making use of them.
Lotusanne, that little dog Jeff in the picture was one that was doing the rounds on Facebook. The writing says 'Jeff put on his 'casual' face hoping no-one would notice he had farted'.
