Mobile Uploads EXCLUSIVE. Stonehenge Liberated by Ben Fellows. Today English Heritage, who manage Stonehenge admitted that the ground immediate surrounding The Stones actually belongs to The National Trust who incidentally are not represented at the site, and that English Heritage are only responsible for The Stones which is contained within a small parameter triangle. Which is roped off. English Heritage admit that they have no authority over the sounding field (which has a small barbed wire fence around it and therefore that their security were not empowered to remove anyone from that area. If you do not penetrate the triangle perimeter then you free to sit/pitch tent for as long as you like until The National Trust ask you to leave. STONEHENGE HAS BEEN LIBERATED.

Just a heads up on this. National Trust (who own the Sanctuary area at Avebury) have had no hesitation in bringing in the Police to move campers/vans along under the 1992 Criminal Justice Act. They can do this *If there is a gathering of 5 vans/campers or more
and
*There has been abusive language or threatening behaviour
or
*There has been criminal damage
or
*There has been littering/tipping (This is surely a catch all they can invoke at will - they only need to spot a piece of litter to give themselves reason - it's designed to stop tipping by travellers but in practice could be used against anyone they don't like being there) They do not need to get a civil eviction warrant, it is part of the criminal system enforced by the Police (In response to the New Age Convoys of the 1980s so the authorities have a legal heavy handed option if they want it. It is not "Criminal Justice" but a persecution act against generally law abiding travelers, but that's another argument) English Heritage work hand in hand with the National Trust and the Police and the Highways. All it takes is a couple of complaints and phone calls and the coppers will straight on your backs. So be aware of the possibilities. The 1992 Act does not apply to Highways land like Byway 12 - separate provisions apply. But the police can still move you on if they judge you are causing an obstruction or a nuisance so you're not safe there either.

The pictures were taken today the overflow car park is now the main car park and the old car park has become the coach park.
A new entrance has been built at the junction of the A344 and the north Drove
The celebrations went very well upwards of 20,000 people I believe with no trouble apart from a free festival that was cancelled

Do you know when they are going to move everything up to the centre? Enjoy your stay! If you see 'Scottish John', say Hi from me please.

Didn't need to Google it. Information from Basildog who has personal experience. This one crops up all the time in that area as Wiltshire Police/Council can be overly aggressive to New Age Travellers and casual camping if the prevailing mood is not on your side.
