Hey I found a spot in Clipstone called Vicar water it is a massive country park with several trails. It also has a massive lake stocked with all manner of fish including barbel, carp and tench etc.Now after calling them today they have said you can pay to night fish at a cost of £6 per night or pay £35 for a year this allows to spend as many nights as you like there. The added bonus is that they lock you in from a certain time at night until 7am I'm morning and it is looked after by a bailiff. My thinking is its safe and secure and you can fish and at £35 a year a bargain for as many nights as you like. I have not posted into places to camp yet as I will go give it a try and let you know how it is could be good if not over run with vans every night plus you don't actually have to fish if you don't want to think they would be ok with you saying you are fishing

Rob I am definitely up for a season ticket I'm heading there at about 4 to make further enquiries I will give you a call when I'm back.Carol this place is catch and release only but I know 2 other places where you can stay the night and fish for trout.1 is free if you are fishing you can stop in car park.Other is a small site with facilities and a huge rally field if you are interested be happy to let you know where they are or maybe meet up some time there.

I want to learn to fish and gut. Do you fish to eat or just for sport? Hi Carol, You would only be able to fish for sport on this venue (coarse fish catch and release). You would need to try Fly fishing or Spinning for Trout or Salmon, or sea fishing. I do all of these - fly/coarse/sea and it is great to be able to eat what you catch. Gutting a fish is really simple and can be learned in a couple of minutes. Maybe we should organise a couple of fishing meets?

I've also been sorting out my sea gear Will. Plenty of fishing to be had this year!
I'm off to the pub in about 10 mins so if I don't catch your call I'll ring you tomorrow!

Even my then 8 year old daughter caught enough to feed the multitudes!
