Yes, that was the one I used. I don't know much about the RHCP except they kind of piggy back on a famous name. I wonder how many people have ever turned up at their gig half expecting to see another band

There are not many festivals you can take dogs to so it's a real pain when they all coincide on the same dates, grrr. I want to go to them all!

I know... its a real pain that they coincide! Ususally its the smaller ones that are OK for dogs. Last year at Farmer Phils there were loads of dogs, they have to be on a lead in main arean, but not in camping fields, and the dogs had a great festival too!!

Soooo........ just got a message from my friend and she's decided she prefers Cropredy now. lotusanne, can you tell me about Farmer Phils please? My friend is worried there will be too many families with young kids there, and not enough good bands. I have nothing to suggest different.

Line up for Farmer Phils: www.farmerphilsfestival.co.uk/lineup.htmSome missing at the moment. Ferocious Dog on twice Friday night and Sunday Acoustic stage. I think Friday night could be OK. I don't really know enough about the other bands.

Winddancer - I don't think it is particlualrly targeted at families, there were't loads of kids there last year, I think there is an activity tent for them, but that was about it. i was much more aware of lots of dogs than lots of kids! The music last year was good, though obviusly personal preference comes into it. There was a mix of styles but more Celtic and Reggae types than others, and not really much world music - no Latin etc. BUt the whole festival was really enjoyable, there was enough choice the atmoshpere was laid back, there wasnt that huge commercial presence you get at the bigger festivals, maybe 10 - 15 stalls for food/ stuff. Good allnight cafe at the entrance to the main stage from camping field. Field is on a slope so can see the band no matter where you are. Its in a lovely setting, rolling hills, and not far from Shrewsbury which is a nice little town with castle etc. worth a few hours looking around. But Cropredy will be good too no doubt - and Lakefest....so.... good luck deciding!!

Thank you, that helps a lot. That's kind of how I imagined it. TBH I was all set to go to Cropredy until I saw Farmer Phil was the same w/e. However as you ay, they'll both be great.

I'm torn between them. I enjoyed Lakefest very much last year, but don't want to go on my own, so either Cropredy or Farmer Phils I think.
I might email them all and suggest to them to get their act together re dates next year, as having three good ones on the same weekend is crazy. Lakefest was May last year, but they moved to August.

I'll write to them to We all should! One of them is always the 2nd full weekend in Aug but can't remember if it's Cropredy or not. Is Cropredy very tight camping or are they reasonably spaced? Anyone know what the walking is like there?

When I went to Cropredy we got directed where to camp, wasnt in camper ban then , they alloted a small space for each car and tent, and as people arrived they were given the next space. So you would def want to arrive together if thats still the system - this was many years ago though, so worth checking out. And it was a LONG walk to festival fields and happened to be a scorcher of a summer - but they did have water supplies at the edge of each field, i remember dipping my head in it wa sooo hot - hard to imagine now isnt it!!
