Hi back from Harefest. Very understated festival! A good time had by all. Learned how to bake a cake on the hob. Yummy!

Got your text, reply not sending, I'll try later. Harfest was great... I don't know what we put in that cake, but the results were very interesting

Yeah your vans first outing was a big success, have to get it all loaded up now with all the things you need, spices, wash stuff, clean knickers...!!!

Clean knickers? I had loads of 'em! Yes, I think it was a successful first outing apart from ignition failure! Enjoyed being able to "host" too....

OK You've all got to give your fave top five bands/artistes:
Mine are: Shank's Pony, Three Daft Monkeys, Mark Chadwick, Ferocious Dog, New Groove Formation.
Next year I'm going to canvass Miles and Erica to come back and the Roving Crows to attend! It's going to be awesome if both those groups could make it.

Yay, that would be good, its a long way for you but its a lovely part of England so maybe could combine it with a few extra days? I think there will be other opportunities to meet up at other small festivals this year,if you fancy it, I certainly am going to try to get a few in. Went to Farmer Phil's last August in Shropshire which was also great. The good thing about Harefest was that it was indoors and combined with a beer festival, so you could try all sorts of weird and wonderful beers (chocolate beer? Elderflower beer anyone?!!) . Ony one stage though so if you didnt like the band you were forced to drink beer in the bar!!

;D So good that I'm still there!
I was talking to Mike and Elaine, the owners, today about getting together a group of volunteers to help do some work in the garden and as it's perfect for motorhomes where I'm parked ~on the tennis court, with tap and toilet nearby and loads of wood for a fire, 10 mins walk along river to town ~ I wondered if anyone would be interested in a voluntary work meet? We could perhaps offer to help put in the new track so that motorhomes can get up and down to the tennis court easier (they are going to stand by with the tractor tomorrow when I go!).
By helping in this way we could probably guarantee ourselves a regular meet location and they might even get in some guest beers specially. It would be great for a music meet.
There's loads to do and see nearby, tomorrow I'm off to see the model village at Glasshouses and then Fountains Abbey. I might go to Harrogate and Knaresborough later in the week.
If anyone would be interested please post below and if there's enough interest, I'll suggest it to them and see what rough dates it could be.
BTW I'm sure it can be added to a pub/meal stopover WCL list although they do a lot of weddings so best to ring and check beforehand.

I'd be willing to help depending on dates. Gardening or other improvements would be fine. I'm not sure we could help with the track. It looks to me as though it either needs straightening out, if they have the land, which is major earthworks with a JCB etc, or proper hard surfacing for the track they already have, which is specialist work. But if they think we could be of use on the project, I'd be willing to give it a go

Normally I would have been up for that Jess but unfortunately I am still having problems with my hip from falling a month ago, and it has actually gone a lot worse since returning to work on Tues, well actually probably from driving the van, so I wouldn't be able to volunteer at the moment. Its a good idea and it is a great location, I hope you do get some support - though from what Vern said it sounds like a big job!

Sounds like a great event..also a great idea to have a meet at a small festival..if you do another, hope to come along Yeah that would be good Al, watch out for posts on here. A few of us are probably going to Farmer Phil's in August in Shropshire- though it clashes with 2 other festivals unfortuanely, Lakefest I think and can't remember the other, so there's some uncertainty. I will be going though as a friend of mine plays bass in a band who were on there last year and are on again this year. I really enjoyed it last year, small but big enough, main stage, acoustic stage . comedy tent , handful of stalls, all in one field really and camping right next door so not far to get back to van!

Farmer Phil's clashes with Cropredy, which is a great shame as I wanted to go to both Cropredy have a really great line up, but Framer Phil's appeals to me in all other respects. It's a hard decision but looking like it's going to be FP for me.

Levellers and Peatbog Faries are on at Cropredy though... it's tough. They put 3 great festivals on one weekend!

Spoilt for choice! How annoying! I went to Cropredy years ago, and loved it, but its a lot further for me , plus friend on at FPs so I am going to resist lookig at the other festivals that weekend!

Can utake dogs to LakeFest - I was thinking not, but I think I am getting mixed up with Solfest.... will look it up. But still mosy likely to go to FPs Last year they said you could, then they changed and said you couldn't due to insurance reasons, but when I phoned them, they said it was OK for Jess to take Rigg, but they didn't want "too many" dogs so they put the insurance thing on to put people off. So I would phone them and check!

Thanks Vern, I checked on website and it says "If you have a friendly dog that is used to being around lots of people then feel free to bring your dog. Dog owners must clean up after their dogs." But from what you have said I guess best to ring if going. Checked out line up and it also looks great... confused now... sgh! New I shouldn't have looked! Also, I thought it was in the Lake District!

Friday night looks good at Farmer Phils.
The Electric Swing Circus who look interesting (not seen them before), New Groove Formation as per Harefest, and Ferocious Dog at the end... not too sure about the other days though, lots of bands still to be announced. Roving Crows may appear ??

Did u use this link: www.farmerphilsfestival.co.uk/lineup.htm ... this does show a lot of tba's but there is also a list of bands on the news page and there's a lot less on there? What about the Red Hot Chilli Pipers?! Yeah bit of an overlap with Harefest....shame, ... well we dont need to decide yet!
