I like coffee! But really, I like to have a stand up wash when I'm camping which takes quite a lot of hot water in winter. I'll stick it in the back of the little Citroen I'm converting. Plus it won't use any fuel, just the campfire.

Contrast in stand up wash, I boil a bowlful and use steaming hot water and a towel - I reckon the water is so hot like a sauna you don't need much - it bloody scalds sometimes!
So today at Lidl I missed the spanners, but did get a cheap laminator which I have been needing for violin/guitar music and laminating maps.
Also some of the excellent cream cheese balls in mustard and carawway dressing, cheapo Gravadlax, mini herb kebas, and the old Lidl staple Perlenbacher Pils x 6 Bottles. It is excellent chilled and at less than £1 a bottle for 0.5 litre and 4.9% you really can't complain. Half the price of Tesco import lager unless you go for the multibuy which is £1.50 a bottle.

The kettle will also be my hot water system for the Citroen, I have one of those igloo water containers which will keep it hot all day, so one kettleful should also serve for washing up etc.
I'm off to Lidl in a little while to see what's about.

Report back on what they've got Rob if you get a mo, ta!
I've off out this afternoon to see a friend and could call at Lidl on way back if anything worth hunting out.

Bought loads last week! Yesterday I bought the manicure kit which is like a little grinding set. It'll be used to keep the dogs claws short and avoid nicking the quick. I also had to use my new first aid kit!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

I also had to use my new first aid kit! Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards I saw that Chris, and the set of attachments, Julie wouldn't let me buy one - just because I've got one already! They also had - accoustic guitar - £39.99 (probably crap) , Electronic drum set - £49.99 (sure Neil would love to take up drums). I also picked up a fire extinguisher for the MH £8.99 which I thought I had missed out on last week.

That fire extinguisher sounds ok. Don't know how old the one in our van is as it came with it!

I saw the guitar. I didn't take too much of a look, but it looked like it came with leads and was an electro acoustic with a little amp too. You can sometimes get lucky on cheap guitars. They will have a laminate (plywood) top but if they are soundly built and the set up is OK (pot luck) they can be surprisingly good. Have to get it tuned up and play before you buy to find out - not very easy in Lidl

Yes, check the action and also fret buzzes. Such a cheap guitar will probably not come with a truss rod so you can't adjust the neck relief. Yes you can fiddle with the bridge and the nut but there are some problems you can't solve without resort to neck relief or neck reset which on a cheap purchase is not worth it.
I purchased a guitar recently and it was good quality with great tone and volume. But if I had not read up in detail about adjusting the truss rod I would have been stuck with a very unsatisfactory instrument or guitar repair workshop £50 bill. As it is I am still trying to find a 3rd string (G) which does not set the instrument off like a pack of wild horses. This is due to the instrument being too well made, it really does resonate beautifully on open G not buzzing but really deep, rich lasting tone. I have to balance the strings though!

It's something about the Western 'Tempered Tuning' System that gives the G string that character I think...all g'tars have it to some extent. Your Taylor's a fine g'tar tho' so guess it shows up even more! Was the orig. string wound or not?

ive heard some tune the bottom E string to D as it puts less stress on the neck for a better action ?

Think I'll give that a miss Rob. It might be just to tempting for Jose when we get back from the pub elephants trunk. She may get ideas in such a confined space when I can't defend myself . .... Tom ....
