campervan owners have got to be careful. this gives a bad impression to the public because people would be intimidaited from using the picnic bench. like when we park up on a beach we would make sure their is plenty of space and every1 can still enjoy the beach but in the photo thy have close the area off for use by any1 else

I quite agree some people would find this intimidating just as they would a large group of anything, car rally, bikes etc. you can't see the whole area in the photo. But we do need to be careful as there are already many places in the country where we are not welcome!

Intimidated by what ?
A few old farts or a family on a day trip in a motorhome ?
I d be more intimidated having a picnic in a park on an "essex" council estate just incase i was accidently vajazzled !!!
The only fear i can see is the public automatically associating them with the gypsy fraternity in there haste to condem of which seems to be source of all "caravan/motorhome" woes...

Intimidated by what ? A few old farts or a family on a day trip in a motorhome ? You missed the point, it's not just one motorhome, it's a whole group corralling the picnic area!

I just didnt view the situation in the same maner as yourself or a part of the public which obviously stems from images like this in the press , screencast.com/t/DwQQR0sxAnd if you ask me there lies the problem, and proven by the silly use of words like intimidating and negativity sprung to your mind imediately. I find that very silly and know if it were a hundred more cars or white vans or whatever no one would bat an eyelid nor would it even rate a mention on a buletin board. Ask yourself this, where the heck are you suposed to use your 50k vehicle if you cant even park up at a picnic spot just because you re in a motorhome rather than your car van bike or whatever else you ride on !!! pray do tell me what the alternative is. ( and dont tell me a campsite because they re booked up and not available when you want one for a simple day trip !) As for specific parking places in tourist spots, ever tied finding one !

Maybe they like me don't like campsites. When we go and park up somewhere, normally by the sea,I go out of my way not to park next to another camper.

wouldn't bother me much either, nut bear in mind people are odd.when some traveller mates were parked up somewhere, they were taken to court and off course the prosecution had to disclose their evidence.bear with me.this was a well behaved group of about 5o6 families, with kids. i wish i had copies of the sheer poison the locals wrote in about them, drugs, whores thieves dead babies in ditches it was astoundingly nasty, mainly proliferated by 2or3 horrible old farts, who never dreamed their letters, with addresses, would be handed to the defence team.anyway, saying there's no good reason why you shouldn't park your van where you'd park your car doesn't mean you'll get a reasonable response from the locals

Wouldn't bother or intimidate me. I just wouldn't want to go there. Scarborough is not my cup of tea at all (neither are any touristy English seaside towns).

The van with the jetski and windbreaker...parking or camping?
It is a debate in the UK that I would like to see resolved and agreed on. MHs probably stand more chance of acceptance if we parkl
