Hi, I have only just joined and it's been very informative. I have been scrolling through the Internet to find a company,in my area, who could put a high top roof on swb ford transit minibus but to no avail. If anybody out there who knows of such a company in or around Worthing West Sussex I would appreciate the help.
Kind regards Doey.

Welcome to the forum! It's a bit of a specialist thing roofs. Someone like www.camperworks.com may do it - they are in Sussex, not a million miles from Worthing. But just a heads up, it can be quite pricey compared to the value of a second hand vehicle. You may be better off selling the vehicle you have and sourcing a van which has already got one on, unless the van you have is already fitted out just how you want on other ways.

Thanks for your help. I can see what you mean about the price, fortunately I haven't bought the van yet, so you have saved me a great deal of grief and money. I'm now scrolling through the Internet for a ford transit swb high roof minibus but it appears I may need to go for a Mwb to get what I'm looking for.
Thanks again. Kind regards Doey

No problem. It is the same with many retrofit items eg Air Conditioning. It can cost 1-2k which is as much as a secondhand vehicle may be worth.
There is a short cut price on roofs. Get a moulding and self fit or cheap fit from a mate. Still looking at around £1000+ though.
I full time in a MWB Movano/Master - it is 5.4m long. That's minimum size in my opinion for 1 and weekends for 2. 5.8m is better and you can still just about squeeze that in a parking bay.

Hi Doey, what exactly have you got in mind? Do you plan to get an empty van to convert to full spec campervan, or have one as a work/campervan combination for example? Have you considered getting an older van that is already converted - you can get some great bargains and many are very low mileage as many people only wheel them out a couple of times a year. In the past my partner and I did a few conversions and you need a lot of time and money, and skills. Though it was great fun planning exactly what the ideal van should be (no such thing by the way- there's always something you think you will want in the next one!!) If you are interested in second hand vans I can recommend anything by Autosleeper, they have been around for yonks, do great quality conversions and understand what works in a van. Good luck and do keep us posted
