You could have cured this problem with a small piece of black tape over the warning light Tom.

Hi Tom hope you enjoy your Tour de France, and hopefully no problems with the Rimor. Just picked up on this thread, I remember at Caerphilly your suspension went on the van, was it not repairable? Be lucky hj

Hi horshamjack. I have put the axle job on hold until I get back from France. I have dragged the two axles to the end of the garage and stacked stuff on top of them so I can get my car in for the duration of the trip. I will resume with the job as soon as I can when I get back. I just hope the weather don't turn to bad this winter. I thought I would add this so I could bore Brownie a bit more with the axle .... .... Tom ....

I always get confused between Gracie Fields and Vera Lynn. I remember my mum liked one of them and thought the other one was a nasty piece of work - I can't remember which way round it was though.

Hello all. I'm back home. 7 and a half hours from Dover - I must sort out somewhere to stop overnight to break up the journey. Tom got back to the UK yesterday afternoon but was stopping overnight at a lovely, friendly pub 10 minutes from Dover. Hopefully, he'll be too busy sorting out van number 1 to post pics! A great trip but oh, it's nice to have my comfy bed!

First post since I came back last week has Iv'e been busy on the old horse. It is raining now so no way am I getting under it till it stops. I thought I would just update on the Rimor has it was having problems from the start and I had no time to do much negotiating. I had to put it in a garage and have the ABS and other warning lights sorted out that came on unexpectedly. Well that sorted we set off for Dover on the Friday and arrived with no problems. We stayed at a pub and the next morning put kettle on for a brew. Would you believe no gas .. I knew it was not a shortage has we had two new bottles on board. I traced it to the regulator not working grrrrrrrrrr, seven years its been fitted in this cupboard and it picks the time we are about to catch the ferry to go into retirement. Lucky for me I carried one of the old fashioned regulators that screw onto the bottles direct which I used. I had to replace the pipe with some rubber pipe which I also was lucky I carried, so a bit of a lash up, but it lasted the trip out and is still like that until I get time to look at it proper. No sooner had I got that done when the alarms started going off. I have never had the luxury of alarms before so was quiet new to this problem. I was really fed up by now and was not sure if we should do the crossing with this racket keep going off. In the end it seemed to settle down so decided to hit the ferry while I was still in the mood. Would you believe as soon as we parked on the boat the bloody things started going off again. In the end I had to leave it unlocked for the crossing to keep it quiet. When we got to our first night stop in France I read up on the alarm system and would you believe the culprit was Rocco . There is a sequence of pressing the locking buttons that can kill the inside sensors so they don't pick up movement EG Rocco. What is strange it never happened in all the time before until we was about to catch the ferry. The next problem was a top back light was out which is illegal if the are fitted. I could not get that to work until I got home but Iv'e sorted it now. I also noticed the number plate lights where out and when I checked them they was nearly none existent and rotted away inside. I have new ones now ready to fit. I imagine anyone with a modern van would have known about the remote alarms and things but there is a first time for everything, as they say you live and learn. I will put some pics up of France on a separate posting when I get time. I will also put the pub and post code up has it is a great stop ready for boarding the ferry. .... Tom ....
